My first marine tank ~180l (47g)

After a two-year adventure with freshwater, I decided to start a saltwater aquarium.

I think I will show my progress here

Main tank: 100x40x40 cm - raised with a lacobel that serves as a crown + external overflow = 100x40x50 cm
3 bowl sump 35x40x50 cm (water level ~ 35 cm)

Lighting: so far 2x Zetlight Lancia model ZP4000 742 + controller built on the arduino project
Skimmer: Bluskimmer 550
Circulation pump: NewaJet1200
JVP100 pump

Rock: 9kg dry Marco Rocks + 9 kg rock from a working aquarium.

So far it looks like it, flooded for 3 days, today I added a live rock. Nothing sorted out yet, but it is because of my trip that I will be away for a week, and during this time the water can circulate and carry bacteria from live rock to dry. Circulation still outside the sump - when I return I will add water and it will run as it should.

The planned cast are mainly soft corals and LPS, probably some clowns and we will see further.

Looks great! Be careful of the gsp (briareum) a lot of people do not like it because it can take over the tank. If you manage it and clean it you will be fine. Im a big fan of them.

Good start! I just noticed your density is 1.020? That's on the low side, any reason for it? Otherwise I would slowly raise it to 1.024-1.025

I know it's low, don't know why. I used 380g of salt per 10l - maybe my salinity meter is wrong - I have the cheap one for now.

I've never used those. I have a 30$ refractometer from amazon. Works pretty well 🙂 I think the instructions are just a reference, many things could influence the amount of salt you need. I don't weigh the salt nor do I measure the water volume. I just mix it in until I get 1.025. I'm lazy lol 😉

Mine cost about 3-4$, but I need to buy a refractometer too. With next wather change I'll try to mix 10l with 1.030 to raise a salinity in tank. I'm lazy too, so I use a weight 😄

Latest parametrs.

I changed 5 liters of salt water. Also turned off the refill and added salt water.

Salinity and Ca lvl is better, but KH and PH is still low...

Two new animals will come tomorrow 🙂

Two new inhabitants:

Cryptocentrus cinctus and Alpheus randalli.

Unfortunately, they hide somewhere and I can't see them, they are probably afraid of the new place 😞
My wife says that I have to much rocks 😄
