Elizabeth94
Gonna wait to get this tank wet until tonight when Waterbox announces the $10,000 peninsula giveaway winner. Not like ill win but you never know XD They were actually up in my area not too long ago according to a video at Ocean State Aquatics in RI. Cool that they venture out. 1 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Just an update. All I need is to decide on flow. Im so indecisive. But I decided to pick up a 20gal long for a fish quarantine and use a Waterbox 7 for coral frags down the line. My better half isnt happy that we now have two nice empty tanks in the attic lol. But its always good to have backups! I finished the scape for the left side of the tank but im not sure what I should do for the right side. I was going to do a minimalist scape but the left side looks a bit big for that. Have some Tropic Eden sand on the way. 2 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Just installed some cheap leds to the sump area. I plan to keep the sump clean looking with minimal cords. Everything runs to an external cabinet. Still have a bit of work to do but at least it is bright now. 2 Quote Link to comment

Frogman213
Looks great! Just got my 70.3 a few weeks ago as well. Have you had any issues with the ball valve adjustment? Wondering why they didn’t make it a gate valve instead. 1 Quote Link to comment

I agree though I wish it was a gate valve. What I do is use the handle of a screw driver and tap on the valve. I find this allows small adjustments. Then I wait a ten mins or so and see if I need to change it again. Quote Link to comment

Elizabeth94
Gosh this is a slow build right now. I have been so busy lately but finally figured out my bulb combo and what ill be using for flow. My longnose hawkfish has been doing great so I added him to the display. Named him Larry. I have a gut feeling that this tank is going to have a bad ugly phase. Idk what it is, but I think once these lights go on it will be a hair algae party. Which is fine. I originally wanted to do a minimal rock scape but clearly that didn't happen. Now that I am leaving towards having a lot of sps on the top half of the tank, im thinking the right half is lacking in rock work. Might join them with a thin bridge structure. What do you guys think? 4 Quote Link to comment

Elizabeth94
Well. Just ordered some stuff for the tank. Once this order comes in Ill be ready for the first corals. Probably will do some acans and yumas first. And of course have to get some sort of lens kit for my phone. Cant have super blue photos! Tank is looking too barren. Waiting for some algae to show up so I can add some diversity that the dry rock doesn't come with. 2 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Just put in the first coral order for the tank. Only ordered two pieces for now to see how they do. Hopefully they don’t just melt haha. 3 Quote Link to comment

Elizabeth94
So this just happened. I have never had a rock flower nem in any of my tanks before. It'll be here next week. The first corals are doing good. The frogskin acro is surprisingly doing well in this new system. A little brown in some spots but I am thinking its just from shipping and dipping stress. Has decent polyp extension. But well see. Im thinking of getting some KPAquatic live rock to seed my tank with some diversity. But haven’t decided yet. 2 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
So here are some crappy pics of the only two corals I have so far. I got the phone macro lense kit and have to run both the orange and yellow filter. But this gets rid of the red tint of the micromussa. I need to find a better method for photos. Acro is still alive. Color is kinda blah but I just started moving it into higher light. Im guessing these sticks take a bit to adjust anyways. Still only have one fish because I am having a hard time deciding on stocking. Rock flower nem is coming the day before Thanksgiving. Tank is still really clean which is weird to me. Lights have been on for a while and I feed daily. I did “cook” this rock for months before set up, so maybe that helped. I feel like im going backwards compared to my other tanks. No snails yet as there isn’t anything for them to eat. Nitrates are 10, phosphate is .05. Maybe its a good balance for the system? I never tested phosphate in my other tanks so idk. Still waiting to be whacked with algae lmao. And of course my dobie. He turns 1 next month ❤️ 4 Quote Link to comment

Elizabeth94
So it has been a couple of months. I have been saving and spending money in equipment for the tank so I don’t have much in terms of stocking. **** taking sand out slowly so don’t judge how awful the transition looks haha**** Have some diatoms in the rock no biggie. I added coraline algae I got off ebay so I hope that helps. Switched out the T5’s for two Kessil a360x’s. This is my first time with Kessil, and damn, love them. Got a ton of test kits and I will be starting the Aquaforest Balling Components soon. Bought a beautiful wrasse that unfortunately passed. I think it got a spinal injury when the employee used a net to catch him. Such an awesome fish.... Poor thing. Stocking for corals is just a torch, hammer, micromussa, and one rock flower. I need more fish and corals but need to recover after dropping all my money haha! 3 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Oh, and a dog pic! He is not happy that I have been spending more time watching the tank than playing with him. 1 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
Slow is the way to go. So your going bare bottom? I know you were talking about it. Interested to see how much it affects your water. I haven’t looked to much into it but I know it can change some stuff, not just with nutrients. 2 Quote Link to comment

Right now my nitrate is too low for my api kit. Hanna phosphate test is reading .03 which I think it pretty good. I want to be able to feed this tank like crazy and have a good export method with less maintenance. Sand is a pain in the butt to keep clean imo. But I might add it back I like the look of it. 1 Quote Link to comment
