Elizabeth94
So only four days after the vibrant dose and almost all the algae is gone. Rear glass is also very clean. No changes to any corals, haven’t noticed any dead snails or anything. Tank is looking really good. I have the algae scrubber running so if anything decides to come back it will grow in there. Theoretically anyways. Still some tufts on this rock, but it was pretty thick at one point. 4 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
So one of my zebra dartfish jumped through a teeny tiny gap of my screen lid. Found him yesterday, I am totally bummed. I ordered a lid made by waterbox that covers completely to the glass. Shipping was like $40 which really sucks. I can’t believe it fit through a 1/4in gap. Now I need to figure out where to put a new QT so I can get some fish. SO is using a desk for school since he has been doing his schooling online due to covid. Maybe on the bedroom dresser? Haha. 3 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Happy where the tank is. Now I need to fill it up with corals! Cant remember what this one is though. 4 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Algae scrubber is starting to grow! Haven’t opened it up for a couple weeks. 3 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Got new fish a few days ago, and a new lid by waterbox that sits flush, no gaps. My longnose hawkfish has been thrown in the sump because he is being a bully. Im not sure what I will do with him. It was a pain in the butt to catch, I almost don’t want to risk putting him back in the display.. Also got an ecotech power brick to run my return pump if we lose power. My SO has been really stubborn on buying a generator for the house. Finally looking like a reef. The fish make the tank so colorful. And of course, my boy Jasper. 4 2 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Had an issue with my Santa Monica algae scrubber. The leds were really dim and my algae died off. Messaged them today (on a holiday) and they emailed me back 12mins later saying they would send a new light fixture out. No haggling, super fast service. Im am really impressed. Hopefully I won’t have this issue again. 3 Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
Sounds like everything has been going well, besides that fish jumping. Tank is looking good! 1 Quote Link to comment

These are carbeeryi anthias. Im really hoping they do well. Im feeding like five times a day with different foods to make sure they eat well. The smallest one has a sunken in tummy and spits out food a lot. Right now he only keeps down Reef Caviar eggs. I have never had to switch fish onto different foods, I just hope over time he picks at everything else. I feed flake, pellets, rods food, mysis, blood worms (once a week), brine shrimp, and reef caviar. Crossing my fingers! 1 Quote Link to comment

I had a trio for over a year once before my tank crashed, then tried more and each time they slowly start to disappear =(. 2 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Well I sold my hawkfish today. Im going to miss Larry, but he needs another home. This tank is fully stocked for sure. And he is a meanie. So... At least everyone else seems to be doing good. 4 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Another month down! Tank is doing good. Finally getting coraline on my pumps and glass. One major issue I recently discovers with the Marine versions of these Waterboxes... even with a lid fish manage to get behind the false wall and into the rear chambers. They are almost impossible to get out. I even have a top made specifically by waterbox. This happened twice in the past month. One fish spent days in the back chamber because I just couldn’t reach him. I will not buy this version again. It was such a headache. Instead, save the money and go with the reef version. 7 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
For fun- this is what I pick from the algae scrubber every few days. Ill have to take a picture of the scrubber before I pull it. I don't completely clean it out. I just pluck out the easy stuff. Haven’t dosed vibrant in a long time. No green algae in the display. So hopefully it will remain that way. 4 Quote Link to comment

Supposedly tangs would eat this stuff. I do have a food dehydrator. But I don’t have any algae eating fish to try it on. 1 Quote Link to comment

Elizabeth94
So I finally decided to buy more corals. Life has just been so busy and tight on cash. We are installing a new patio door and buying a generator. Plus I set up a high tech planted tank so theres that. Anyways, I was inspired by @Matteo and had to get a lobo! Oh, and this is going to be my first clam in this hobby. Actually, all three of these corals are new to me. I am getting carpal tunnel surgery this Weds. Hopefully I can get the incision wet by the time these arrive! 8 1 Quote Link to comment

Elizabeth94
I actually have no idea how to acclimate clams. I know not to dip them. But I know pests can come on their shell. Are they not supposed to touch air? Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Who wants to come over and do a water change for me? Lol! Worried about getting some strange bacteria in my incision from the tank. With my luck my hand eill fall off or something. I did a water change today and made a mess on my floor. No matter how neat I was trying to be using my left hand. 1 1 2 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Just got the new corals in. The clam is adorable. Cynarina is big and beautiful I can see how people collect them. Lobo has some good colors, but its definitely still a big closed up. Overall I am pretty happy with how things are. However, in particular my PC Rainbow is looking more orange than red, and my rainbow millie is super bright pink which I think its supposed to have some greens? Definitely not fuzzy either. But it is still a small frag, so idk. Quote Link to comment

Elizabeth94
So I am kinda bummed. I am realizing that this isn’t the clam I ordered. In fact, the clam I ordered is still listed on their site and its still labeled wysiwyg. Thankfully I have dated screen shots and compared them to the clam still on their site. They are no doubt the same clam. The one I got is dark blue with a brown strip all the way down the mantel. And it doesn’t have the aqua/green outline. Curious what can be done. I really liked that clam. 1 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Pacific East Aquaculture called me, they are sending me the correct clam. She went to the tanks and noticed that someone just picked the wrong one and the one I purchased was in fact, still at their facility. I can’t thank them enough for physically checking their system and following up with a direct phone call. Absolutely amazing service. I get to keep the clam they sent me today. I did offer to return it, she said only if I think my system cant handle it. Otherwise ill get to have both. Im excited to get the one I was eye balling! Ill definitely be ordering from them again. Everything else came in super healthy and beautiful. 2 2 Quote Link to comment
