JohnCena
Hi Guys, I need some help with identification of a hairy brown alage in my Tank. Today I brushed it off while doing a water change. I dont know if this is Dyno or something bad for my tank. Quote Link to comment
ajkochev
Looks more red than brown to me. More like Cyanobacteria. Google and search the reef forums for it and you'll find lots of ways to fight it. Quote Link to comment
JohnCena
Is this something bad or am I doing anything bad, please let me know if you guys have any experience dealing with this. I'll look into more forums to search a solution for this. Thanks for commenting. Quote Link to comment
j.falk
Stop! Before you do anything rash to try to "fix" it...it could simply be from lack of water flow through the area, possible overfeeding, or simply a new aquarium stage that is perfectly normal for all new reef aquariums to go through. Cyano is part of the ugly tank period process. It doesn't mean you are necessarily doing anything wrong. Here's some more information on it: https://biotaaquariums.com/ugly-tank-period/ https://www.reefcleaners.org/nuisance-algae-id-guide Quote Link to comment
JohnCena
will try to add one more powerhead, im using same powerhead that I was using for 5 Gallon tank. Quote Link to comment
j.falk
Also try sucking the bulk of it out with a gravel vac when you do water changes...that'll help get rid of it quicker. 1 Quote Link to comment
ReeferND
I agree, just tank uglies. Let it ride for a bit. If it isn't gone in a month, try fixing. This is part of the process to stable environment so let it go. Adding more flow cannot hurt and will most likely solve your problem. 1 Quote Link to comment
