A.Berry
Hey everyone, I have a pretty strange question. Anyone know of any benign aiptasia species? My LFS has 1 in the fish holding tank that is huge and looks pretty but doesn't have any volunteer growths anywhere else in the tank. Any possibility that it could be some sort of "Glass Anemone" that doesnt spread like a weed? I know the typical issues with aiptasia, but this one seems strange Quote Link to comment
seabass
Nah, aiptasia will reproduce and you'd have a problem soon enough. If you like the look of this particular large aiptasia, you might consider a curlique anemone instead. Quote Link to comment

mcarroll
It would be nice in a dedicated specimen tank where you can control feedings. I've seen one kept in a pico display – very cool and low maintenance! In a tank where you're blasting fish, corals or other animals with food on a regular basis, an aiptasia is going to spread tho. Tamberav
The ones on gulf live rock do not seem to spread much. They are not aiptasia but related. They look similar though. I would be suspicious of it not being the same aiptasia we think of if it doesn't spread or spreads slowly. 2 Quote Link to comment
