Snow_Phoenix
What type of damsels are you planning on doing, if I might ask? Quote Link to comment

Thinking a yellow tail, blue velvet, three spot domino, blue, and a three or four striped. Like freshwater when you have small fish in a tank it adds color and movement. I'm not too worried on the bioload and even though damsels are sorta basic, I think it's going to be a really fun tank. Quote Link to comment

Have you considered a Talbot for a difference in color? That actually does sound like a fun tank. But you will need a lot of overhangs/rockwork cover for each of them to establish their own territory. Otherwise they'll just kick the snot out of each other. I have always been intrigued by the concept of a damsel-only tank. They're beautiful and affordable, but mean as heck. Several reefers I know have attempted to add multiple damsels to their tank at once but the fish were so aggressive that they ended up killing each other off. I have had okay experiences with yellowtails though. But the blue devils are best to be avoided. 1 Quote Link to comment

I always make sure my tanks are both anesthetically pleasing along with adequate for the amount of fish and terriroty. Tablots are cook but since I will have two clownfish in the tank which are orange I wasn't thinking about it but ya never know! Maybe I'll swap the tablot for the blue because I believe you are right, the blue devils are devils haha. I have seen multiple tanks with damsels coexisting. Hopefully with ample hiding places and adequate feeding the pecking order and aggression will be evenly dispersed out. All other saltwater fish are either too big or are stagnant swimmers like cardinals and Firefish. Any other fish you can think of? I look at damsels as the cheap and colorful saltwater tetras haha Quote Link to comment
Matteo
Using a mix of distilled vinegar and a splash of isopropyl and a simply sponge and scraper. When you can't wait to be an a house with a hose outback... You must get creative 🤣 Batta bing batta boom! CLEAN Look you can see right through to the reef 😄 6 Quote Link to comment
Matteo
Decided I'm gonna do a school of yellow tail damsels 🙂 thinking 5 total, the 2 clowns, and either 1 royal gramma or a shrimp and goby pair 1 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
Damsels are super underrated and get a bad rep because people throw them in tanks without considering their needs or temperament. They're like super-fast cichlids with the territory tendencies (except wayyy more space per fish) and voracity of maroon clowns and the speed/roaming-range of fish three times their size. Beautiful, full of personality, but they really need the right kind of setup. Best of luck! I highly recommend randalls, springeri, Talbot's, diamonds, and the yellow-tailed azure. All the most peaceful damsels right there, of course YMMV per individual lol... 2 Quote Link to comment

I think it will be a fun and colorful tank, especially if all yellow tails. Aggression shouldn't be horrible either due to same species and being in a school of 5-6. The tank will have plenty of open space but also a ton of nooks and cranny and to get in. Hopefully once setup and the YT damsels establish territory the clowns will actually go and use a BTA. In the past they haven't but they had no reason to find shelter as the only fish on the tank. 1 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
Spreading out aggression works great, can't wait to see the build progress. Oh, just to poke back in, if you think they're like tetras and haven't kept them before you're in for a very pleasant surprise, damsels have levels of activity and energy which freshwater fish just can't compete with, think chiclids on speed. They're constantly looking for pods and poking rockwork, always in and out of caves or darting around the tank inspecting their territory or mouthing suspended particulates (even making their own by fanning or mouthing the sand). One damsel is enough to completely fill my 13.5 gallon tank, that has the footprint of a 20-long, with constant movement lol. I have no idea how they can be as active, agile, or quick as they are.
