ajkochev
I'm thinking about a small fish for my tank. I researched that it is best to give them a freshwater dip for a few mins to kill any parasites. I'd like to hear experiences with this, how to do it and if I should add anything else to the freshwater. Quote Link to comment
Neb
I tried with my first fish and never bothered again as I reserve fish and the lfs takes good care of them for me. What I did it, I raised Freshwater temp to 25, added prime (or any other dechlorinator), spilled fish after acclimation for a min (was meant to be 30 sec, but couldn't catch him) and added him to the tank. He's fine, alive and hungry all the time. Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
Make sure the water is dechlorinated. Make sure it is temperature matched to your tank — floating in the bath in your tank is a good way to accomplish this. Put him in for 5 to 15 minutes depending on the fish. Then move him to the destination. That's it. Nothing to it. 😁 Quote Link to comment
dennisedward
Chlorinated water will damage to the gills which causes the fish breathing difficulties. So dechlorinate the water. Quote Link to comment
