whisnantrider
Hi all, It's been a while since I have posted here but I wanted to share my new build. Since my Reefer 250 had an equipment malfunction which led to major tank crash I decided I wanted to get back to an AIO tank, and this will be my new build thread. I really wanted to stick with a 36" tank and looked all over for a C-Vue 40 and SR-60. Finally gave up hope and settled on new Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 30L. One of my local Club Members had just bought it new and hadn't set it up yet. He really wanted a Reefer 250 and we worked out a trade that helped us both out. Equipment will consist of the following:APS stand (customized of coarse)Stock IM return Pump2-Spin Streams(on order)IM ReactorIM Skimmer2-AI Primes with the all metal mount(probably going to swap for the 12" flex arms later)Finnex HMA-200 Titanium HeaterSmart ATOSmart temp safety sensorSmart level safety sensorMedia Baskets(eventually)The main thing I'm undecided on at the moment is the power heads. I'm debating between Nero 5 and Tunze 6040. The Nero seems a bit over kill but the control and integration with the same app as the lights is a nice feature. Any suggestions or advise on these two pumps? When I first brought it home the stand just wasn't going to work. So after a little work here we are I am also making a stained wood top for it today to give it the little extra something I am looking for. That's all I've got for now. Hopefully this will be a busy weekend for this tank. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

Christopher Marks
Welcome back @whisnantrider, and congrats on the new 30L build! I really like how you painted the APS stand, that looks sooooo much better! Looking forward to seeing what's next, keep up the good work! Quote Link to comment
banasophia
Ah nice!! Love what you did with the stand - can’t wait to see the “after” pic of of the tank and stand against your very cool wall! Also, I’m especially looking forward to following along since this is the tank I’m considering for my eventual upgrade. Quote Link to comment

whisnantrider
Only issue so far is the skimmer pumping out a ton of micro bubbles. Hopefully its just the break in. Quote Link to comment

whisnantrider
Almost 2 weeks since the swap! Things are moving right along. I ditched the Spin Streams because the flow was no where near what I was expecting but I feel it is because of the tank dimensions. My LFS has them in a cube tank and they do a great job but i think the dimensions on this tank are just not favorable for them. Still debating on what power head to go with.... Also got the shelf in, just need some cable management now. Left rock structure Right rock structure 1 Quote Link to comment
Kangster911
I have IM Nuvo 30 cube and spinstream is very effective. I agree with you on thinking that it is the dimension. I added Jabao SOW-4, I think it could have been fine without. The downside of cube 30 is the limited space in the back sump area... Quote Link to comment

Yeah my LFS has a Cobalt C-Vue 40 (cube AIO) set up with two spin streams on the returns(2 sicce 1.5's) and the flow looks really good. It has to be because of how narrow the display is on this tank. whisnantrider
Finally got the Tunze 6040 nestled into an acceptable spot! My Icecap battery back up does not work with it though so...oh well I will be getting the Tunze 6105.500 and some sort of battery. The EZ Reefing Solutions "EX Water Level Adjuster kit is awesome and allowed me to get the water level just where I want it! I also got the Spin Streams worked out. Plugged them onto the lines and then pushed the little plastic couplers through the back wall so they sat further back and they work/look much better now. I have also added a Jebao DP2 doser to dose Ocean's Blend 2 Part. I have also started dosing RedSea Reef Energy A and B.Last thing before the pics, A big shout out to Aqua Illuminations customer support. The UV on one of my primes is acting up and after just a few emails they have a new light on the way!And here are some pics! 2 1 Quote Link to comment

The corals that survived the crash in my reefer have bounced back nicely. The only thing that I can’t get happy is a birds nest of all things... idk what it’s deal is. Quote Link to comment
whisnantrider
6 months old now! Definitely had some struggles with alk swings. Finally got it stable and its been doing good for the last few months. The stock pump became very noisy so i replaced it with a DC pump from Amazon. Impressive pump for the money and i have had no issues. I also just changed out the skimmer, yesterday, to a CADLights PLS-50 Elite II, absolute BEAST of a nano skimmer, and added a ReefPower RP-M powerhead. The RP-M is a very nice pump but I think this tank may be a bit shallow to take advantage of its potential. I may end up swapping it out for another 6040. I will post some tank pics once the lights come on. 3 Quote Link to comment

Poodges
Not sure how I missed this one. Stand looks awesome painted. Great looking tank. Looks like you have a terrific spot in your house for the tank as well. 1 Quote Link to comment

Here she is waking up this morning, i don't think the RP-M will be sticking around. Its just to much on the back wall unless i set it to the minimum, right side it digs sand like crazy, left side splashes water out of the tank. Oh well i guess. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Can you put it where the tunze is, and move tunze to the opposite side of the tank? Quote Link to comment
Matteo
I fricken LOVE the lights around the tank. So much fun! Your tank looks really good too. Everything is so clean and uniform from DT to below. Happy Holidays 😊 Quote Link to comment

I have tried every which a way to place it. The Tunze with the flow deflector shapes the flow over that rock and across the tank to the opposite side. This is just a big burst of water similar to a Vortech pump....kindda... its just to much for my particular set up. Quote Link to comment

I may have to do something about that because this skimmer is definitely not going anywhere. I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone with a nano or aio tank. I have tried a lot of different skimmer in aio tanks and this thing is just impressive. 1 Quote Link to comment

I bought gyre 1K and pretty impressed with the flow, currently running just one in the tank. But thinking of going with two. Quote Link to comment
