govols2015
I just returned home from work to find the brown algae in the photo beginning to form on my sand bed and rocks. It is light in most areas still and the photo is the only sense spot. The tank has only been cycled for a few weeks so I figured this may just be an early bloom that people warn about. My questions are what type of algae is this and what CUC members would best combat it? The only inverts I currently have are 2 nassarius snails which I imagine will not actually eat any of it. It is a 10 gallon reef with a clown and some corals, also. Quote Link to comment
Clown79
It looks like diatoms. These are quite normal and common after cycling. They exhaust on their own when food source is gone(silicates) Adding some cuc can help. Trochus, astrea, ceriths. Nassaurius are great for keeping the sand bed clean. Quote Link to comment
