Hey all. Long time, no post!

My RSM 130 started leaking and I replaced it with an SCA 50. I apparently hella suck at Google because I can’t figure out how to assemble this damn thing.

First question of the night. How the hell do I get the PVC plumbing on the bulkhead piece?

Thanks in advance.

That strainer goes on the bent elbow piece. Just to filter out debris. and for the drain pipes, just stick it in the bulkheads installed on the 3 holes.

I do have 3 of the elbows and threaded pieces as well as the nozzles.

Holy hell. Nobody panic. I figured it out. You have to be smarter than the plastic. I think I’ve spent too much time around Marines lol.

Am I supposed to have a gasket on these bulkhead pieces? I can’t get them to stop leaking.

That’s what I thought. And the fun continues. I guess tomorrow I get to make a trip to pick one up. Thanks again.

Picked up the o-rings and it passed the leak test. How full is everyone keeping these things?

As full as the sump will handle without overflowing when the flow is off. This is your first sumped tank?

Got it. Thanks! Yes, this is.

Test it out first. Turn off the flow and see how high the sump will rise. Also be careful with the loc lines. If you angle it down a lot then a lot more water will be siphoned down to your sump when the flow is off.

Thanks!

Moved everything over. Did this quicker than I wanted but I had to. My Red Sea wasn’t doing well.

Well this is frustrating. I wake up this morning to find my Scarlett crab chowing down on the acan @mwhitelock hooked me up with. The thing knocked it off it’s glued spot and I had to forcefully separate it. ####ing crabs. No one likes crabs.

So, crabs (with some notable exceptions) tend to go after things that are already dying. That acan wasn’t doing well when I gave it to you after being stung in my tank- and looks like it won’t make it in your tank either. If you’ve had the crab in there and haven’t seen it go after other things, it’s just a dying acan.

If the crab is new though, watch him like a hawk. I’ve had hermits and emeralds eat corals, so I switched them for a lawnmower blenny and haven’t had an issue since.

Whew. Well that makes me feel a little better as I’ve had him for a few years. But also sad because it means the acan might not make it. My tank was supposed to be the Savior. I guess it’s a false profit tank 😕 lol.

Well a little update. The acan didn’t make it. I’ll be doing a water change tonight and will try to get some more pics. Not really any change besides algae growth.
