Daniel91
Just finished reading through. Everything looks great! By the way, please tell the person, who decided to donate a $50+ Sunny D frag, that I am always in the market for new friends.... 😬😅 1 Quote Link to comment

Joevember
Got the vid of the crab eating. It's bad quality because my phone's video is terrible and can't focus 😑... but here it is Also the goniopower is just a variety of dried zooplankton species. 3 Quote Link to comment
Joevember
And I got some close ups on the zoas that were closed up for a while. And if someone could ID this for me, I'd really appreciate it. It's just green with neon orange skirt and mouth. 2 3 Quote Link to comment
Wonderboy
Looking great! That crab is quite the shy one :] You ought to try turning all flow off and letting the food trickle onto its face - I see some good fanning action from mine when I do that 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Joevember
Just cut the filter sponge into an inkate guard. Thanks for the idea @Wingy! 3 Quote Link to comment

Joevember
Picked up a minty ricordea today. 👌 4 Quote Link to comment
Joevember
Added two frags in from the other tank yesterday and also bought one. First thing I added is some GSP. Don't have a lot of time left in the competition so I need something to grow like crazy. I have one uncut chunk chilling on the sandbed and the other mounted on the right side of the scape. The other thing I transfered was a baby mushroom. It's the last of my hitchhiker shrooms and it was just taking up space in the other tank. Too small for a pic. The thing I bought was a single head clove polyp. It looks really cool when it's open, but since the seller fragged it, it's been looking like crap. He sold it to me as a deal when I bought some acans, but I think he ripped me on this 😑 4 Quote Link to comment
Wonderboy
Looking good - Nice ricordea! You really can't argue too much with some old school GSP :] That's a lot of glue for one polyp... hoping it pulls through for you. 1 Quote Link to comment
SaltyGallon
Hi Joe, ... First post, long time lurker! Great little tank, loving the RFAs and that minty ric. If you're still having trouble with your AC50 being noisy I recommend lubing the impeller up with some silicone plumbers grease and also using some PTFE plumbers tape underneath the impeller head. I think there's some threads on here which inc the tutorial. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Joevember
Just did another water change today. One thing I have been noticing is that there is a large amount of detritus building up on the rock and sandbed; the AC50 is definitely not cutting it with the flow it's putting out. I cleaned out most of the gunk out during the water change. The brown algae is back again, and I'm pretty confident that it's dinos (I've seen it before). It's stringy, brown, and bubbly and it's always on my zoas. I'll be trying a few strategies to get them under control. I just added some ROX carbon and GFO to the filter, I lowered the light intensity, I'm going to do more frequent water changes, and I may start dosing very small amounts of hydrogen peroxide if the problem persists. Got some more pics for ya The clove polyp is open, but it doesn't look good. 6 Quote Link to comment

Wingy
You may want to remove some of that glue from the plug to give the stolon something to grow on to. 1 Quote Link to comment

That's probably why it's mad. I'm thinking that I can remove the stalk and just glue that to the rock, hopefully without hurting it. Quote Link to comment
Wingy
I would let it grow out on the disk first. Let it shoot out a few babies and move those instead of trying to remove the 'parent' completely from the glue. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Joevember
Saturday tank shots. I also came to the realization that the tank looks better from the top because the zoas are angled toward the light. Also letting ya know that I just moved the clove into the other tank so it has the best chance of surviving. 5 2 Quote Link to comment

debbeach13
Yes your top down photo's look great. I can see all the different colors better. But a standard FTS is still nice. 1 Quote Link to comment
Joevember
The clove looks a little better now. It looks like there was some cyano building up around the stalk making it closed. I never knew how small cloves were before seeing them IRL. Same thing with zoas; I was really disappointed when I first saw them because all tbe pictures online that I saw never showed a good scale. I thought the polyps were quarter size... Anyway here's the clove And here is the acan pack I got with it (I'm much happier about this purchase) 6 Quote Link to comment
