Snow_Phoenix
Don't ask. 🤦♀️ The good news is that they get along very well. 🥰 Lily on the rocks: And yes, she's the more dominant of the pair. 👍 I had more feeders die off in the afternoon. Most of these feeders were quite badly malnourished (very sunken bellies etc.), and I didn't want to lose any of them, so I dropped the entire breeder box (after a quick temp. acclimation) into the 60G. I figured I'd release a few of them into the tank every 2 to 3 days. I think in the future, when I purchase juvi mollies, I'd just stick them in a breeder box in this tank directly. Weirdly enough, these mollies seem to do better in SW than FW. 🤷♀️ A bit deflated today: I'm mostly happy the lions are getting along. 🥰 (And yes, Lily escaped her box while I tried to free one of my silly mollies which squeezed in. Basically the same case as Lady. 🤦♀️) 1 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Dear Lord, this batch of feeders have turned out to be horrendous. I believe I've lost 2/3rds of the mollies - I ended up releasing the surviving 1/3rd directly into the DT and let my fish go after them. I think the main issue was that all the *fish feeders I purchased this round were very thin/emaciated, and most likely not going to survive the week. They don't appear diseased in any way, just severely underfed (or knowing the stores here, probably *not fed at all). 😕 I don't have the energy, time nor resources to create another setup exclusively for feeders. But what I can do is convert the QT-Observation tank into a SW Feeder tank for mollies, and basically give them a chance to fatten up before feeding them to my lions. It's very late here (close to midnight), but hopefully I'll have some better ideas in the morning and will be better prepared. Most of the guppy feeders had issues too - I eventually had to offload that whole batch to my FW Predator tank outside because those fry are too small, and won't last a minute in my 60G. At least the ghost shrimp are mostly intact with very few deaths. I still have a breeder box full of them in my discus tank. This whole live food thing is quite costly and time-demanding. I'm really, really hoping my lions accept frozen soon, because then they'll actually be able to eat high-quality, nutritious food which is imperative for their growth and health. 1 Quote Link to comment

We seemed to have the opposite problem here - lots of females, nil males. I read that dwarfs can form harems. 1 male to 3 to 4 females. As wonderful as it sounds, I'm not sure if my tank is capable of hosting that many lions, even if I were to remove all the other fish in the tank. The bioload of a single lion alone is enormous. This guys poop a lot every morning! And they're still little. 1 Quote Link to comment

No everyone I have found so far is a male, I know that I'll be really pushing the nutrients with two Lions in the tank but I feel with the established live rock in the tank it should be suitable. Just the issue of finding a suitable lady..... story of my life 🤣 3 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Mornin'. 🥰 I have to extract all the dead feeders clogging up my overflow and wavemaker shortly. One of my larger mollies died too. 😔 Some of the feeders in my FW predator tank died as well, so double work for me. I think I'll try to source out a new store for feeders, but this is the only store that I know of that has various types of feeders at regular prices. I'm not sure how to proceed with live feeders in future in that case. ☹ I'll redouble my efforts on weaning my lions onto prepared. Hopefully this will work out better. 2 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Hawke's colors are stunning. He can actually change his colors - I've seen him go completely pale (almost white) at night, to strong red. Most of the time, he chooses to be pinkish-red which tapers to orange. 🥰 I love how he has thickened out and is well on his way to becoming a chonky fish too! 🥰 Beast the urchin 💦 : 3 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Both of them are graceful swimmers. 🥰 Lily: Lady: Lady's a red-variant, while Lily is a brown-variant. I haven't seen a yellow-variant in stores before, but they are a rare sight and imported from Lembeh, if I'm not mistaken. Bet they're pricey too. 👀 4 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
This is a snapshot from a video posted by my LFS - new lions!!! 🥰 They all appear to be female once again though, although I can't really tell with the dark one in the bottom right corner. I'm not heading to the store anytime soon though. But still excited to see these guys! 🥰 2 Quote Link to comment
