I scraped the glass in the DT and cleaned out the wavemaker with vinegar & water. Managed to get rid of most of the algae & debri that was clogging it. In a short while, I'll be cleaning the sump & do a 10G (or 15G) WC. Will replace the floss, sock & carbon - it's long overdue for a thorough clean up. Next week I'll try to WC 20G of the DT. 👍

Two of my shroom frags were knocked over by my urchins, so I had to re-glue those back on the rocks. Can't wait to acquire more shrooms! 🥰

Forgot to add: I WCed 15G of water in the sump earlier and did a thorough clean up. The water was filthy - it was like muddy laterite soil and really gross. 🤢

Replaced the sock, floss & carbon. Including the clean-up of equipment afterwards, it took me around ~2 hours to get everything done. There are still patches of GHA in the sump, but at least the animals in the DT seem happier/more active. 👍

Really need to do this more often.

How very exciting. Shows that they are healthy and happy because you take such good care of them.

Thanks Deb. I really try to give it my all for these guys because they need special care. I'm hoping in time (another year or two), the tank will be able to self-run for days so that I can leave for extended vacations. These fish are my favorite in the reefing hobby (although the Pictus blenny will always hold a special place in my heart), but they can be challenging at times. I'm still trying to get a female ruby for my male so that they can mate & spawn too. But it looks like I'll have to wait until next year. 🤔

I took a few quick snapshots of my refugium - it's messy & chaotic, but as long as it serves its main purpose - which is to supply the DT with pods, I don't really mind how it looks:

The patches of dragon's breath are recent though - I got them for free from my LFS, but I'm a bit iffy over them, and I prefer the caulerpa-chaeto mix. They've begun to turn orange, so I don't expect them to last long. 🤔
