debbeach13
Easy to thin them out when they do that. I found 1 on the glass yesterday. That was the first time I recall seeing any n the glass. 1 Quote Link to comment

That was the first time I recall seeing any n the glass. There are so many small ones in the tank - a few big ones under the rocks, but mostly very tiny ones. I've seen an increase ever since I upped feedings to keep up with the demands of all of my fish. I can't cut back on food, or else the animals will starve. 😞 So I tolerate the worms for now. They're mostly active at night. I hardly see any during the day, but when the tank and room lights are completely off, they crawl out from the rocks to scavenge for leftovers. Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
I do consider the worms harmless but I pull some out every week. That's just me. I see the little buggers every day when I feed the tank or fish. Usually during WC and vacuuming the sand it is easy to just pick a few out. Bristle, spaghetti, and asterina stars. I do not want to completely eradicate them just keep them under control. 2 Quote Link to comment

I have 4 wrasses which are supposed to keep mine under control, but since the fish sleep at night and the worms appear en masse at night (and sneakily hide during the day), they're not really kept in check. I don't see them harming any of the livestock (for now), but I am considering using a modified planaria trap to see if I can catch some at night and dispose them in the following morning. There's simply too many of them! 😕 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
I got one of those traps and have tried it a couple time with a half of a frozen cube of brine shrimp in it but have only caught a couple worms. I remove more manually than I seem to catch. I have seen some have great results with the trap so I will try again some night. 2 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
I don't think wrasse are the best for controlling bristleworms anyway, coral banded shrimp and dottybacks have terrible reputations otherwise, but are certainly known to eat them lol... 1 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Managed to get a nice shot of Leopold: 🤗 Orion is still quite lean. Has a fully belly, but no definite chub to him: 🤔 I just remembered - my store manager called this shroom a 'watermelon' shroom: I think it looks really pretty. Some of the shrooms got knocked off the rocks yesterday - so I'll reglue them back up there after I scrape the glass. 👍 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
I changed the position of the lower left rock at the front of the tank to elevate the ledge rock (Yuma Bridge) behind it. A lot of bristleworms popped out, but I rescaped without any issue. Thanos is enjoying the new alcove I made for him near the sandbed: And I also shuffled some shrooms around to make Mushroom Mountain more populated. There are still many empty spaces on the mountain though - I'll definitely try to scour the discount racks at both my LFSes to see if I can find other varieties & colors. I think once the tank is stable enough, I'll try picking up a mini maxi nem to decorate the ledge rock on the right side of the tank. For now, I'm mostly focused on trying to keep the parameters stable to pick up my two upcoming LPS colonies by the end of this month. I really, really want to pick up that giant elegance coral at the store, but it's also way out of my budget. The coolest thing about it is that it had bluish-purplish tips and is very healthy. Frag some zoa's for credit towards it. 1 Quote Link to comment

Or I could pay in installments, and then collect the coral once I've finished the payment (usually 2 or 3 installments). 🤔 Hopefully there is a way, because I do like it very much! 😅 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
My yumas: The Yuma Bridge: I'm still looking out for the traditional green yuma that used to be incredibly common here. And other varieties - purple is definitely on the list. 👍 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Mushroom mountain looks a bit sloppy & messy. 😕 My rhodactises aren't happy because they've been getting too much direct flow, so they're shriveled: I'll have to move them lower, where they won't be blown off their frag plugs. I think one of my tricolored orange ones already looks like it's about to bail any moment now, which sucks. 😕 Shrooms aside, the hammer coral is doing very well and recovering wonderfully: I lost 2 large heads due to BJD, but I think the remaining 3 are doing much better. Hopefully it'll grow out again in time and be really big again. 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Accidently dumped pellets on my poor rainbow yuma - I was aiming for the rocks below to feed the dragonets, blennies & gobies: 🙈 Also noticed several new filter feeders (sponges) popping up all over my tank. Each of them look different and have a different color. So cool! 😮 : 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Dropped by the LFS and picked up a very small baby toadstool leather, a super small pearl bubble coral, a pair of green hairy shrooms and a green yuma (which has a row of white dots on it). I'm not too happy with the way I placed my yuma, and the only way to see any of the new shrooms is from a topview. I think I'll have to re-adjust the position of both the green yuma & green hairy shrooms though, because they're getting buffeted by the flow from my wavemaker. As for the pearl bubble, it's practically a tiny frag - and not a very healthy one, so it was on a discount. The brown toadstool leather is mostly an offshoot that was clinging on to a larger toadstool for sale - I only got it for RM 5, which was honestly a steal (although it's very small too). I slotted it into a rock crevice, and it has some stubby PE atm. I'm not sure what the polyp colors are - but it's either brown or green. Pics to come once everything has adjusted to the tank. Snow_Phoenix
Also picked up this giant bag of macro from the LFS: Had quite a variety of macro in the mix, and the fuge is nice and full: I usually prune back the older macro and toss it. But I replenish the fuge with a new batch of macro once every three to four weeks - think of it as re-seeding the fuge with a new collection of microfauna, including pods, microbrittles, asterinas, collonista snails, worms, sponges etc. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
