Filter floss and phosphate remover

So as of now I have the stock sponge filter, ceramic rings and carbon in my media basket in my JBJ 28.  I want to know the added benefits and filtration of adding floss instead of the sponge.  Also I was looking to add a phosphate reducer into the chamber but want to know what experiences you guys have had.  Any help would be great.

Sponges never can be 100% cleaned, therefore have detritus stuck in it decaying and leading to high nutrient levels.

It is a bio media used in FW

Filter floss is used instead to help remove particles from the water but during to being changed a few times a week, doesn't come with the downside of creating nutrient issues.

Phos reducers should be used as needed, in small quantities, with frequent monitoring of phos levels or you can strip the tank creating another problem.

Thanks for the info.  Any particular brand or one to stay away from?  Also, would it help water clarity by filtering smaller particles?

Glosses purpose is to collect particles that go through the filter.

Granulated carbon like Seachem matrix helps remove toxins and clarifies water.

Phosguard and gfo is used to reduce phosphates. These need to be used carefully
