Gravity
Columbus (the black ice clownfish) has officially disappeared. 😭 He has been missing for 2 days but after checking the back chambers without any luck. I must say he is gone for good. 2 Quote Link to comment

Gravity
I have no idea what happened. There was still some aggression between the clownfish but it had improved. No signs of anything in the back chamber in or around the tank. It’s possible it died from stress and the pistol shrimp dragged it into its cave. But that’s about all I can think of. Gravity
Been MIA for about two months now. Good new is I didn’t miss the competition I have been waiting for. However, I don’t have the time or tools to build a DIY tank, like I wanted to. So naturally I went to four pet stores today to find a tank. Unfortunately, I did not find what I was looking for but did get some goodies. 2/20/2020 Live rock for the competition tank. Now chilling in my QT tank until I can get the new one. A few more snails to help with the cyano growth: 4 banded trochus and 4 cerith snails Found a beautiful splatter hammer that the wife actually wanted *double whammy*. BUT.... I somehow managed to crack the skeleton when trying to remove the plug. Any chance this coral will actually survive? Then for the new tank I got a ricordia yuma, I think. The wife picked out the bigger of the two but it appears to be missing a chunk of flesh 😔. Last item was this stunning rock flower anemone with brilliant red and blue coloration. The picture does not do it justice. 3 Quote Link to comment
Gravity
Looks like the hammer survived the night. Anyone have a hammer survive with a broken base? 1 Quote Link to comment

Gravity
I could just be over reacting but now it looks like the hammer is going downhill. The bottom tentacles (correct terminology?) Appear to be turning brown. The tentacles near the front appear deflated. 1 Quote Link to comment
Seadragon
Doesn't that cyanobacteria bother you more? You're making my Tiger Sand Conchs jealous! They ate all my cyanobacteria long ago. 😞 1 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
Those two shots are from almost exactly the same angle, so kodus on that, but they look almost identical to me. You could try moving it to lower-flow to see if that helps it recover. Quote Link to comment

I recently added a few more snails so will see if that helps. Quote Link to comment

So I will continue to keep a close eye on it and hope it pulls through. Quote Link to comment

I have begun to increase my cleanup crew and will continue to do so as needed. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve been behind on water changes for a few weeks which doesn’t help but will resume my weekly water change. Information on this also appears to vary some say to use GFO others say to increase nutrients. I can say with slightly relaxed filter replacement and higher feeding there is no change to the nutrient readings. So my current tactic is to increase the clean up crew to remove algae and lower the nutrient uptake of the tank. Then in about three weeks I will reach the one year mark and will sent out a sample for ICP to determine if there is anything out of wack. If everything checks out and the issue persists I will then be open to using Vibrant to help get rid of it. Quote Link to comment
Gravity
I have been getting some crazy growth on the purple monster palythoa with 5 new heads since I bought it. The hot hawaiian palythoa also has a new head. 2 Quote Link to comment
Gravity
One Year! Looks like it’s the official one year anniversary for my tank. Overall, the tank is doing well. Fighting a bit of cyano likely due to low nutrients. So far I have only lost two corals. One acan bleached shortly after receiving and a single head purple monster zoa that disappeared. I have attempted to pair my clownfish twice now without success. The first attempt was with a misbar that only survived a week. The second was with a black ice which disappeared after over two months with the use of a breeder box and a brief period of removing the gladiator clownfish. There were no signs of what happened to this clownfish. Hooray! 😁 Congrats on your tankiversary. It sounds like you've been enjoying your reef, which is great to hear. I'm sure it will get even better from here as the tank stabilizes and matures. 1 hour ago, Gravity said: The second was with a black ice which disappeared after over two months with the use of a breeder box and a brief period of removing the gladiator clownfish. Unfortunate that you never found out what happened to your lost clown, but... at least it means your clean-up crew is doing a good job? 😅 2 Quote Link to comment
Gravity
Began dosing MicrōBacter7 today. Hopefully this will help reduce the cyano growth over the next few weeks. 1 Quote Link to comment
Gravity
Maintenance Day! Did a water change and soaked the pumps and media basket in citric acid. Still dosing MicrōBacter7, just finished the two week startup regimen but planning on continuing the higher dose until the cyano is gone. Have noticed slower growth after basting the rocks. The frogspawn continues to live. Thinking it’s going to pull through despite the base being cracked. Beginning to move it to higher light and flow to get it settled. 1 Quote Link to comment
Gravity
It’s been a crazy weekend. I received my reef cleaners order on Saturday. The package included 3 Nassarius, 6 Cerith, 4 Nerites and 78 Dwarf Cerith, way more then the anticipated 10 but I’m not complaining. Then I picked up a New Tank!!!!! 2 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Gravity
Did a four day blackout last weekend to address some cyano/dino that seemed to be taking over. Cleaned off the rocks daily throughout the process and continued microbactor 7 dosing. Tank came out with very clean looking rock and sand withonly some hair algae remaining. However, there was some tissue regression on the favities, acans and duncans. It was a little surprising due to the short time period. Then I eased back into the lighting with a week of 50% lighting (blues only). 3 Quote Link to comment

Gravity
My lavender duncan lost its last head today. It was bleaching after the blackout. So I tuned off the white lights and it started to regain color on the base. Hopefully it still comes back. 3 Quote Link to comment
