Cool! Is it a janky tank?

Glad you are joining the fun!

It’s against my better judgement to be sure..... but I have a wandering bubble-tip that could call it home

Welcome to the contest!!!

that is a huge filter!!

But unfortunately it isn’t within the allotted (.5gal) parameters.

given you say it’s .220 acrylic so subtracting .440 from all three variables

gives

8.31x6.06x10.31/231=2.247gal

but from the looks of it, it’s not .220 (1/4in) acrylic but probably 1/8in so it’s still over 😭

I’m still rooting for ya!

It was actually a joke, the “skilter” was a combination powerfilter and skimmer that came out in the late 90’s and early 2000’s .....

Wow!  I thought my HOB was a beast.  That one is big.

Yeah, I concur with Salty - that one's not going to be allowed....but you could use and participate in the non-conforming tanks category...

You know...the more I looked at that I was thinking I acutally had one of those...that top tray caught the skimmate....it was removable to clean it.  It used a wood airstone in the middle of the filter.  Total old school....

If you use the Azoo 150 the Marina C10 heater fits right in, and is ~$12 on amazon-IMG_20190331_094546.thumb.jpg.771c9a904fe11e57e51b62e868d63759.jpg

I'm using the Azoo 150, but depending on how you like things it may not be enough flow for you- I find that i need to run mine at ~60% flow in order for it not to have water bypassing the cartridge/media. If you go with more coarse media this may not be an issue for you. You could also run an additional powerhead too and just turn the Azoo down a bit.

The heater/filter combo sure makes for a low impact tank equipment setup though, the small intake fits the scale perfectly-
