PhatReef
Wondering what this brown stuff is on my coral. Not sure what coral it is as I bought the whole rock as a piece off another hobbyist. i have a bit of brown algae in my tank however this has gotten smaller and lost colour. All of my peremiters are well my nitrates are about 20ppm. any help would be appreciated, I’ve posted in other forums and haven’t gotten any advice. thanks Quote Link to comment

Can you “blow” the algae off? Quote Link to comment
Clown79
It's a leather coral and its algae covering it. What kind of flow do you have and do you have a good cuc? 1 Quote Link to comment
EthanPhillyCheesesteak
Isn’t 20ppm high? Or am I wrong? Mines at like 5 and below? Quote Link to comment

Lack of nutrients is just as bad as too much. Finding the cause, correcting it and maintaining more adequate nutrients will help with the algae. 1 Quote Link to comment

Like WV suggested, give it more flow. A lot more. Unless it’s bacterial infection (which I doubt). But if it is, dip in iodide base solution. 1 Quote Link to comment
