It is super cute! No, I expect it to die naturally very soon. Like most cephalopods, they don't live long. Since I found it swimming in the water column during the day, I think it is senescent. Usually they are hiding in the sand and are found at night. 2 1 2 Quote Link to comment
DISQUALIFIED-QQ
Glad Douglas missed Oahu. I was getting slightly worried for my grandparents. Also nice grab while snorkeling out there. Maybe when I come back to visit family you can take me along! 🤙 1 Quote Link to comment

I'd be happy to show other NRers cool spots! 1 1 Quote Link to comment
yoshii
The squid didn't last long. Sad, but expected. I forgot to post of video, I'll do that next post. What cool little creatures. The little Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse is so fun, it will swim over as soon as I approach the tank. Unfortunately I haven't gotten it to eat prepared food yet, but it's been picking food off the algae in the tank. If I can't get it to eat prepared soon, I'll let it go. The little Conger Eel is doing well, but is honestly kind of boring because I can only see it come out at night, and when it sees me, it goes back into hiding. I've been dumping in live copepods, mysids, and amphipods for it to eat, but I think it would be very difficult to get it to eat frozen since it's so shy. 😕 New tank updates: Finally found a container that I can use for my "HOB"! Who knew Walmart had a vast selection of cereal containers? Now I just have to cut a outfall and a hole for the iceprobe. What do you guys think, should I make a new thread for the upgrade? 2 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
I have that container for my ATO. No new thread post here. I hope the cleaner wrasse eats so he can stay. 2 Quote Link to comment

yoshii
Here are videos of the squid. The first one I had trouble keeping it in focus, but it's just chilling in the water column. The second video it's "hiding" in the crevice of a bottle cap. 3 1 Quote Link to comment
DISQUALIFIED-QQ
I use similar containers like that or even gallon pitchers from the dollar store to hold my RODI. I'm my top-off system so I have a couple of those around since having 5 gallon totes take up space in my dining room. I can easily hide those pitchers and containers in the aquarium stand cabinets. They can also make good holding containers for new specimens. I normally drip acclimate my animals in a pitcher so I can get a good look at them for the 1 hour or so I drip them for. 2 Quote Link to comment

I top off with tap water, but I use 1g water bottles for holding saltwater. 2 Quote Link to comment
yoshii
Made a hole in the container for the chiller, we'll see if it leaks overnight, so far so good! Next I need to make the return spout. And also figure out a way to mount the light(s). I don't want to use the gooseneck to attach them on the tank, I just don't trust the thin glass. I'm thinking of making some sort of wood frame to clip them onto behind the tank? Then attach that to the bookshelf stand? I feel like there's a better way but idk. Open to suggestions if anyone has ideas. The lights don't have any points of attachment on top to be hung 😕 6 Quote Link to comment

I think I need to put it in higher light this time. 3 hours ago, growsomething said: What's with the sharks gills, parasites?
