kegz08
Probably overkill considering I only have a IM25 lagoon 😏 but amazing to finally have RODI and salt water at the ready 24/7 so I no longer have excuses to push off water changes and maintenance! 3 Quote Link to comment
Naekuh
you should drop in a permeate pump as they will save you a bit of waste of water from your system as well as help boost the performance for your RO. https://www.amazon.com/Aqua-Tec-AQUATEC-ERP-1000-Aquatec-Permeate/dp/B00SD73DA6/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=permeate+pump&qid=1553812508&s=gateway&sr=8-3 Here is some info in regards to permeate pumps: https://www.freshwatersystems.com/blogs/blog/how-a-permeate-pump-works-with-a-reverse-osmosis-system I have 4 of these guys and absolutely love them. Edit... ahh maybe you might need a RO storage tank for them to be useful... id do more research, as i see your using a float valve into the bin and not a pressure tank. Quote Link to comment
Jeff Hood
I did the same a few months back. I had to split out my RO from my DI due to the amount of CO2 dissolved in my tap water. I have to make RO run into the top white container and bubble air through it to de gas the Co2 out otherwise my DI resin is exhausted in 50 gallons or less. Then when I need DI water it just flows out of the white tub through my DI resin via gravity into what ever tub I need it in via a float valve. Set and forget. No leaks. I also use a boost pump for my RO unit and it really boost performance. Youll love your setup and it most definitly will improve yiur maintenance routiene. Quote Link to comment
Tigahboy
Nicely done! Will make life so much easier. I just built one of these too (but smaller scale since I don't have the space). Good tip on the permeate pump @Naekuh. I need to add one of those too. Quote Link to comment
kegz08
Woahh, I didn't realize how in deep into performance of the RO you can get. I'm just happy to not being filling a grocery cart up with 20 gallons of distilled and getting weird looks any more! Quote Link to comment

Same here. :) Do you have the RODI simultaneously feeding both the FW and SW bins or are you moving the FW into the SW bin after that bin fills up? Quote Link to comment

I debated how to handle that for a while... especially how to maintain proper salinity in the SW bin without measuring and doing crazy calculations for amount of salt every time. I think my plan of attack is to only feed the FW bin, then fill 5 Gallon bucket up with FW, add salt mix to that, then just dump into the SW bin. That way I can control amount and maintain the correct salinity. Quote Link to comment

Nice build! I've got the same brute containers and have been thinking about building a raised platform, primarily to put spigots on the bottom. I may use this for inspiration. I'm planning on having it tall enough and open on the bottom so i can put the 5-6 other buckets underneath as storage. For salt storage, i just mix the whole container and replenish when it is empty. Double check salinity before using in subsequent weeks (adding a bit of RODI if needed). Pretty simple. I like the RODI mount on the back - mine is currently loose next to my utility sink so that's a nice upgrade. Quote Link to comment

Like this - but tiny. https://shop.stanwade.com/3-IPS-Galvanized-Pipe-Clamp-P4774.aspx Quote Link to comment
