Beautiful new addition! I'm also a bit concerned about feeding my future goby additions to my pico. They are the same genus as your goby, and have a similar cryptic nature. I'm hoping they will eventually have a favorite cave or something so I know where to look to feed them

I think the hardest part about feeding them is finding them. Now that I know Prowler lurks behind my LR, I can target feed that area some food. I just hope he retains a healthy weight. My greatest concern is him not eating enough.

I’m loving this tank!!  Derp is the most adorable ruler of the mushroom mansion

Thank you! He's a bit of a douche though. He knocked my zoas around (again ) today, and flipped my blasto upside down on the sandbed. But he is entertaining to watch, and he does bring a lot of life in this tank. 🙂

Classic Derp going where he wants to go, and doing what he wants to do - like sitting on my rainbow implosions.

Shrooms overall are doing great. The acid green rhodactis has become slightly darker but no less vibrant.

Hairy shroom duo is doing very well. Derp hid the third one I salvaged from my nano. I literally have no idea where it is. 😕

My bleached nem is slowly un-bleaching! Best part is that it has grown a bit larger - and can accept a small shred of brine or mysis soon.

My clove polyps is one of my other non-shroom favorites in this tank. It's currently competing with my finger leather for fastest growth. 😊

And finally - this is my red pavona. My only SPS in this tank. With all things considered, it doesn't look good, but it is no worse for wear from when it was broken off while I was moving the rocks. Some parts are translucent - not sure if that is considered as possible growth (?) or it is STNing (???). 😕

I saw Prowler again today. Grump made a surprise appearance too, when I threw in some NLS pellets into the tank. No sign of Scarlet, but she is a super elusive crab.

Not sure if I mentioned this - but I threw in one of my Nass snails into the pico around half a week ago. Since the sandbed is thick, I know it is somewhere in the tank, but I just don't know exactly where.

Great pics of the coral, Snow!  I love love love the clove polyps.

Thank you! I really liked the clove polyps showcased in @banasophia's biocube thread - so I thought I'd try a frag out for myself and see how it does (thanks for the inspiration, Bana!). It's bopping out new heads every week. I already have a fifth polyp emerging at the very base.

This was one quick nightshot of Grump sneaking around - I think he molted a couple of days back. Saw some exoskeleton fragments hidden behind my shroom pile, and he looks a lot bigger:

My lobo gets puffy like this every single night once the lights are out. Hungry, perhaps? 🤔

Tomorrow should be WC day. If I can't make it, I'll push it to Wed again. The double WCs are extremely beneficial in speeding up coral growth and increasing coral vibrancy, based on my observation. It also minimizes the use of any dosing elements - to date, I only use 1 drop of dKH buffer per bucket for every 2 to 3 days of manual top-off (and I only use 1.5 cups out of this mix for my top-off, the rest is currently being discarded soon after use).

I only wish my Galaxaura hadn't broken off in fragments or been munched on by pods & Derp. It was one of my favorite macros and 'colorful' macros are hard to come by here.

I ended up ordering 2,600 tiger pods on e-bay for $24.99 including shipping. Had the chance to be with the family so never made it to the LFS.

Awesome!

Another LFS of mine ordered some Tigger pods from up north, and they had some bonus live mysid shrimp included in the mix.

Hope the pods keep Prowler happy, such a cool fishy!

I bet it's really nice to see the growth on your coral, also thanks for the advice of 2 water changes per week. Gives a good perspective on the importance of replenishing nutrients & keeping these little systems stable.

Oh & Derp is just the clown of the show! Maybe he's more of a bull riding clown though, lol!

Hello NR!

Today I added my golden banded coral shrimp (S. zanzibar) to this tank. The original plan was to add him to my 60G. But he was very stressed out in QT and he has already dropped a claw.

He is also very cryptic, and adding something this small in my larger reef-to-be would mean I would most likely never see him again.

So here is Zanipolo (Zani) the shrimp:

And here is a small peek at some of the shrooms in the mansion today after a 90% WC:

And these are my large-polyped pink zoas:

IMG_20190501_180354_703.thumb.jpg.cd2582a9d7b70bca277de3daed14ca50.jpg

I also added my green weeping willow toadstool leather frag to the tank 30 mins ago, but it hasn't extended its polyps yet:

20190501_174023.thumb.jpg.1f69c87973fa2f762a5cce0fd6cc9aad.jpg

I didn't see Prowler at all today, so hopefully he is doing okay. The tiny eagle eye zoa frag I glued to the main LR around a week ago is regaining color very quickly - the rims are already bright green, which is a step up from the dirt brown color the coral originally was:

I'll keep updating as needed. Right now, I hope Zani makes it through his first night in the tank. 😕

Thank you both! Wish I was better at photography though, because sometimes I use settings that kills certain colors or make them look drab. 😕

But I am enjoying this little tank very much. 🙂

Lots of cool stuff in your pico.  And you're tank looks HUGE with all of the diversity and quantity of coral in there.

For anyone that's curious, the livestock list has been updated at the very first post in the front page of this journal.

Thanks! It feels so small though - if you could only see how many things I bump into during my WCs LOL.

I keep toppling over the zoa towers, especially.

I only have 2 things in my pico, and I probably have room for like 2 or 3 more things tops.  I do have a ginormous volcano in the way though.

The volcano is awesome! And I think putting that red macro on the top was very, very creative. 🙂

Miko is doing very well. I got him a little wrasse friend in QT - it is a pink streak that will be moved into my 60G cube once that setup is up and running.

Aww!  Your pink-streaked makes me miss Merlin (RIP), he was so fun to watch!  He definitely ruled the tank.  Derp reminds me of the hermit I had (a zebra hermit) that made me swear off hermits for years. Ugh.  Little jerk.  He wound up in solitary confinement (little 1gallon bowfront I had, no heater) until he died.  I was so mad at him lol.  Fishies are so cute!  I expect your shroom with the hole will probably melt away eventually, that's what I've experienced when mine gaped that badly.  Tank is off to a great start!

Do you mind me asking how much the LFS charged you? I need some neither tank I am running has any.

I've ordered from Algae Barn before and been happy.  I believe Mike's Phyto also sells pods.  My desktop pico is currently overrun with amphipods lol.

I still haven't named my pink streak yet - but she's so fascinating. Now that's she's eating well in QT, she's more active too and always swims out from her PVC pipe towards me in the tank. :happydance:

Derp has a cousin named Jerk in my 60G. He just knocked my cluster duster off the LR half an hour ago.

And yeah, but I wonder why it is gaping though? All my other corals seem to be doing fine - some are even growing! But this green yuma and my GSP are the only two that are really faring poorly. 🤔

Btw, I accidently left my HOB filter off for 12+ hours today. I turned it off to scrape the glass and reposition some frags, then I completely forgot to turn it on. I only noticed there was no waterflow this evening. My lobo is still pissed, and I'm not entirely sure but it appears that the right side of it is showing a bit of skeleton (I could be seeing things though).

The rest of the corals and livestock are okay - I saw Prowler just a few minutes ago, lurking behind my Rainbow Implosions, next to Zani, my shrimp. Derp is currently attacking my fern caulerpa - but I'm mostly worried over my lobo. The lights are off for the night - should I just wait this one out and see if there's any actual damage tomorrow?

Derp finally made it down, and he met an upside down Scarlet along the way. 😅
