I hope your foot is feeling better & you've been able to get outside for some sun boosters!

I like how your tank & rock scape are looking!!!

Also, your husband is very sweet for making the equipment box (;

Finally got a lid made! I was having an awful time trying to find something premade. This is really just a mock up and I'll be fixing it to look a bit nicer soon.

Well looky here, another contest that I've sort of left fall to the back burner...

June has been a little busy around here: the little one not only started to crawl, but has also started to climb up on things, stand, and move around the room shimmying along the furniture! Yikes! Mama doesn't get a break! My two main tanks have taken priority (of course) so there's not much time left in the day to care for the mini tank.

The GOOD NEWS is that with the new lid, top offs don't have to be daily. In fact, if the tank sits for a week salinity only goes from 1.025 to 1.027.

The BAD NEWS is that the tank will get put even further down the list of priorities, as our week-long cruise vacation is in fact turning into a 12-day adventure. Our house sitter's to do list is unfortunately rather long - have to feed the dog, feed the cat, let the dog in/out, scoop the litter box, water the hanging baskets in the front, water the garden in the back, check on the pool, take out the trash, check my two aquariums... So when it came time to add any real livestock to the contest tank, I hesitated.

For now, the tank has been very easy to maintain - top off once a week and drop in a few pellets for the snails, asterina stars, and half a dozen bristle worms. Water changes, so far, have only been once a month. Adding any coral or livestock at this point will upset the balance, even just slightly, and will make more work for the house sitter. At this point, he doesn't have to even blink at the tank and if anything goes wrong, he can unplug the whole thing and likely it will all survive. So, it'll remain in this state (#longestcycleever) till after our vacation and I'll use September and October as a final mad rush to get it in tip top shape to beat out the competition!!
