Tigahboy
@Tempestas Yeah, I had to look very closely at that photo as well. A lot of reflections of reflections going on. Like a tank inception. 2 Quote Link to comment

This guy is extra salty
Well bad news on hob v2. The cutter on the router was dull and damaged the hob and left a nasty edge which couldn’t be repaired or removed. Now comes the part where I have to build another one lol other news I found the correct pump for the HOB filter. I sold a custom dosing container and SPENT 20$ for this pump! 😱 but i feel more confident with this type of pump only cause it will be mounted to the side of the HOB filter not welded into place which with my past design if the pump failed/leaked etc. I would be Up schittz creek with no paddle 3 Quote Link to comment
This guy is extra salty
Alright! Time for a major update! i have completed my HOB filter!! and inevitably made another tank lol I wasn’t quite happy with the background cause you can hardly see it so now is the time for the unveiling! Cause this DIY project will get water in it tomorrow Here is the HOB without the pump It was such a pain in the butt to get the silicone tubing onto the pump intake and exhaust I was afraid I was going to break it. Even after letting it soak in boiling water but I’m ecstatic with the result. I used clear on the sides, back and bottom. Cause I’m going to put lights for the Chaeto going in there ok ok here is a FTS! Just wait for the magnetic frag rack and Lids for the tank and HOB that is in the works 🧐 6 2 Quote Link to comment

This guy is extra salty
Unfortunately as I was testing my HOB filter, it overflows.(everywhere) 😭 now Im kind of at a loss (I wanted to kick it out the window) 😤 either I’ll have to redesign the whole filter or I will have to plead with my ole lady so I can buy a hob filter 🥺 2 Quote Link to comment

I could but that would make it over a half gallon. I thought about making it taller, or moving the weir part lower but I’m having issues of it overflowing where the water is coming in.. secondly i would still have to redesign it cause the pump needs to be fully submerged to function properly. as @Christopher Marks said my current “is more like a traditional hob filter.” I want to mount the pump externally but that is a disqualification.... (ole lady is thinking about the purchase of a filter..) Quote Link to comment
This guy is extra salty
Btw I found a sheet of orange acrylic That shows a nice contrast and also illuminates the edges and rim 3 2 Quote Link to comment
ksadam
Soooo do you do custom acrylic work like media baskets? I had my coral shipped to work the other day and now the boss lady says we should have a tank at work. I snagged a Waterbox Cube 4....needs a media basket could pay for a HOB filter or Amazon wishlist it to you 🤔 2 Quote Link to comment
MetaTank
Aaaaarg soooo close. I know you'll figure something out soon. That backround is LIT, btw. 1 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
Sorry the HOB isn't working out. Fantastic job on that background. I am probably way off but would a less powerful pump work? 1 Quote Link to comment

But mostly the issue of the pump needing to be fully submerged or up the the impellers so it draws water. (I’m hoping to do more convincing to the lady today on getting a filter, if not I’ll probably go without one) 8 hours ago, ksadam said: Soooo do you do custom acrylic work like media baskets? Or a trifecta and have one for the return as a final water polish too?. Send me a Pm with (inner) dimensions and what you want to do. 8 hours ago, MetaTank said: Aaaaarg soooo close. In glad it didn’t catch fire cause it’s so lit 🔥 😂 4 1 Quote Link to comment

Wingy
I was thinking about this last night while lying in bed. What if you diverted some of the water from the pump through some tubing and back into the tank. Part of my issue with HOB's is that water in and water out are to close together but by redirecting some water you would solve that problem by breaking it into two output zones. 1 Quote Link to comment
This guy is extra salty
It is now wet!!🥳 I have a hydor nano pump, sand and heater in there now. Y'all will have to wait for the aquascape that is coming together for next week. i have a few more tweaks to do like a mini controller board and a few pieces of mirror to hide behind the box.. 7 1 Quote Link to comment

I would need some clarification from @Christopher Marks Seriously do not need/want to be disqualified 😐 in other news I got the ole lady to buckle down on a HOB filter with only stipulation can’t be over 20$ 🤦♂️ Is anyone else running a pennplax hob filter I was eyeballing the cascade 100 or 150 both are under 20$...(I could just steal the impeller) 🤔 Quote Link to comment

Thanks! 🙏 I couldn’t find any other fluorescent colors that were drops. I have been looking for some yellow and blue one lately. I have something up my sleeve that I have been working on this past week. here is a hint its a little “Jurassic” 🦖 😝 also i have been making some shroom boxes to go into this tank to keep Chaeto in place. I’ll get a picture later today when I’m done cutting it. 1 Quote Link to comment
