BearTheSquare
Anyone with branching hammer experience, I would love some input... Ā Does this look like it may be splitting into thirds? I know itās not the best picture, but Ā section 2 that I circled has been completely separated after dark for the last week or so. Itās also bubbling up in the middle a ton at night: 1 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Added a few new pieces to the tank. Hereās some pictures from today... Ā New FTS (6-23-2019): Ā Added an acan lord to the zoa garden: Ā Also got this this new zoa from a local reefer: Ā And he also threw in the Yuma: 3 Quote Link to comment
billygoat
Great pictures! I can't help but notice that you have a whole lot of super cool feather duster worms in there. Did you add those intentionally or are they just growing on their own? 1 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
@billygoat Ā Thanks! I noticed a few when I first got the live rock, now thereās at least 50 feather dusters in the tank. Sadly, theĀ clownfish has been hosting the one front and center on the zoa rock. Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Can anyone Id that zoa I posted last night? I got it for free as a Rasta to grow out and frag for a local club down the road, but Iām 100% positive itās not. Looks really nice though! Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Zoa garden is complete and now I will just be waiting for all of the frags to grow in. I added around 20 polyps of playboy bunnies and around 6 nebula people eaters yesterday. Really excited to watch this grow out and see it filled in! BearTheSquare
Hey everyone! Itās been awhile since Iāve posted on this journal, but I have been really busy with my internship lately. Today I was looking through pictures I took the week I moved into myĀ apartment (early May) and was really surprised to see how much everything had grown. Iām happy to say that I think my tanks basically out of the ugly stage and finally started to get to where I want it. Ā Hereās my current dilemma with this tank. Iāve been debating on turning this into a zoa-only tank as they seem to do great in my system and zoas are easily my favorite coral. However, IāveĀ been real closeĀ toĀ adding a couple SPS sticks, but havenāt caught the bug yet luckily for both myĀ wallet and my maintenance schedule (just 2 easy waterchanges a week). Still a little up in the air on which wayĀ I want the tank to go at the moment, but at about 4Ā months itās finally starting to fill in š Ā Hereās a little growth update: Ā FTS (May 18->July 21): Ā Ā Scrambled Eggs (May 18->July 21): Ā Ā Hammer (May 7->July 21): Ā Ā 1 Quote Link to comment

BearTheSquare
ORA Pearlberry from a local reefer. After researching since I was like 12, maintenance, and spending the last month making sure my tank was ready for it I decided it was time. The guy I got it from has been a great source of information on sps. He had a few frags of this thatĀ heās been looking to sell and decided to let me try my hand with one. Currently the plan is to keep this doing well in my tank for a month or two with my current water change schedule. Iāve got plans for eventually making the top section of my tank to eventually be all sticks (dosing equipment/supplies already lined up if this goes well).Ā Ā (Gonna try to get some better pictures once my camerasĀ charged) 1 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Some better pictures of the Pearlberry (definitely true to color): Ā Ā It's only been in my tank for a day now and its easily my favorite piece. Really hoping I can do well with it. Quote Link to comment

Ā Also, what's your lighting schedule like? Could just be my eyes, but IĀ really like the darker look your tank has going on. Keep crushing this! Look great so far. 1 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
@minimal Ā I was trying to fight the sps bug for a really long time. I have a local reefer that I always buy zoas off of and his tank is SPS dominant. Iād always ask him about it when Iād go to buy, but last time he offered me a piece to try and itās one of my favorite acros so I couldnāt pass up š. Ā Iād say itāsĀ doing well so far, but I donāt really have much to base it on because everything online about ORA Pearlberry differs. Mine currently gets decent PE in the afternoon/evening, but not much before that. Iāve just read that if itās not losing colorĀ then itās doing fine (mine hasnāt lost color since adding which is giving me hope). Ā My lighting schedule is pretty blue heavy once Iām home from work, which is normally when I take pictures. Iām pretty sure itās called āJamaican Reefā if youāre in the Facebook group that has all the presets. Hereās a screenshot of the schedule for reference: Quote Link to comment
