BearTheSquare
Not the best pictures, but everything survived the move! Made the scape taller again to make it easier to clean the glass. Have to move it into the new place in 6 days, but that move is just across the street. Very strange seeing it next to my old tank that is now fish only at my parents house: 2 Quote Link to comment

Probably the nastiest water I’ve ever seen. Honestly, I might not end up adding any back depending if there’s no problems. Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Everything is closed, buuuuuuut the tank has been moved the final time for the summer (And hopefully fall if my last semester of college is remote). New additions include a trochus snail (to see if I have a polyclad that needs trapped), a handful of dwarf hermits, and a six-line wrasse named Jonathon (if it gets too aggressive it’ll get moved to my parents tank). Will be getting more pictures and a better update once I have a day off work, really excited to have it back in the house. 4 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Also looking for recommendations of non-invasive corals that have an incredibly low light requirement. Looking to fill in the back right corner which is basically covered by the upper rocks. 1 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Glad you got the tank all settled safe and sound, it looks nice! BearTheSquare
Thanks @Christopher Marks! I was thinking about doing mushrooms, but my Yumas have been spreading throughout the tank and making me a bit worried. I was thinking of possibly doing a leather or even possibly continuing my Zoanthid garden onto the back rock. Anyways, here’s some pictures of the tank tonight. Don’t have my nice camera with me, but the polyp lab lens is helping a lot. 3 Quote Link to comment

The far edge should be good, with some reflected from being in the corner. 2 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
@mitten_reef that actually might be what I go with. I’ve been eyeing up cherry corals and salt critters acans for awhile now. 2 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Been a long while since I’ve updated this, but the tank is still alive lol. Just moved it out to my college house, which is its third move of the year. Sort of a reclamation project at the moment after the past month and a half my parents have been helping me out while I’ve been busy with school and work. Couple updates: -Currently battling some nasty algae from over feeding (I feed an eight of a cube of frozen every other day and had enough split up for my time away, but they looked hungry so it was a full cube a day lol) -Corals look bigger than ever (I’m guessing due to over feeding) If anyone has any ideas from a water change perspective let me know. I’m not trying to shock everything by doing huge ones, but instead small frequent changes for the next two weeks. Here’s what I came back to: And here she is now 12 hours after the move: 3 1 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Been a long time, but tanks not doing too hot currently. Definitely dealing with Dino’s. I’m thinking from overdoing water changes, moving every 2 months, etc., but who knows. So anyways, I’m looking for some options to beat it so I can add some new corals for the first time in about 6 months. I see a lot of conflicting information on the best way to beat it, but I know it’s gonna be a process no matter what. Hoping to add some stuff by March, so I’d like to get it figured out by then. Thinking of trying a 3 day blackout, followed by twice a day dose of hydrogen peroxide, and then adding pods/bacteria. Ugly pictures, but might as well throw them out there for (hopefully) progress shots later on: 2 1 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Also going to throw it out there that it won’t be moved again until late next June. And with another lockdown looking pretty likely I’ll have a lot of time on my hands this next month and a half with Christmas break starting. Literally any suggestions are welcome! 2 Quote Link to comment

I'm Batman
Did you read the Dino threads? I was under the impression that blackouts don’t work. At least for my strain they don’t. When the lights go out they go to water column and back to substrate and rocks in full force after about 2 hours of lights being on. I have an Innovative Marine UV coming any day now. 1 Quote Link to comment

I have an Innovative Marine UV coming any day now. I’ve read that blackouts definitely aren’t a sole solution, but a way to get a start on the Dinos. I’m hoping a multi-pronged attack on them will do it and am just using the blackout to knock them back a bit/not feed them light for a few days. I’ll keep this thread updated with how it’s going for me. Also hope that UV works for you, I’ve read a lot of good things about it being a miracle solution and will end up giving it a shot if this doesn’t work. 1 Quote Link to comment
I'm Batman
I’ll post a thread with the progress. This is my first nano UV, so I’m hoping if I run it at night, it kills off the free floaters. Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
December 5, 2020 FTS: Also, have a UV Setilizer but accidentally shipped it to my home address 2 hours away. So I’ll have to make a trip back home before I can start using that. Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Update: The blackout definitely knocked the Dinos off the rocks and I believe the h2o2 has allowed for other algae to begin its takeover (which is what I was hoping for). Plan is to add pods to reseed the tank, because I believe most were lost between Dino and the four moves this tank has had this past year. Then to add to the cuc again, which I haven’t done in 6 months as there was/is a polyclad flatworm in the tank (haven’t seen any signs of it since it’s last attack). Not mad about the current situation in the tank, because all of the corals (minus losing some zoa’s during the moves) are doing great. Wondering if I should continue letting the tank be or do a water change in the near future to remove detritus. Current FTS: New algae takeover (possibly Cyano?😞 Anyways, I’d rather battle some other nuisance algae than Dino. I believe a lot of the recent problems have came from the tank basically resetting with every move, but it’s worth it to me keeping it around. Been in talks with a local about filling in my zoa garden again once everything is straightened out, pretty excited. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
BearTheSquare
Think today might finally be time for a water change. It’s been about 5 weeks since my last one, which I’m not used to as I’ve done weekly water changes since starting it almost 2 years ago. The green algae that popped up has began covering some Zoanthids, which had me thinking it’s time for it to go. Should I keep waiting even though I don’t see any visible Dinos? In better news, I’ve been looking at old pictures of my tank and wondering why the zoa’s have seemed to shrink and finally figured it out. The placement of my hammer has been shading my Zoanthids. I moved it two days ago and the Zoanthids are already starting to look better. Turns out it might not have been due to the moves after all! Picture showing the shading: 2 Quote Link to comment

The poor man’s MP-10: Simple ato since I’ve been going out of town for work pretty often: I’ll be looking to get an automated ATO in March once the tank turns 2, but from reading Amazon reviews all of them seem to be hit or miss.
