Molted hermit?

So my hermit swapped shells and I just found what appears to be a dead hermit below him but he’s the only Scarlett one in there? Didn't look like an exoskeleton.

If he was the only one then that is his molt.

Hermits can run around without their shells. I’ve found several in my reefs naked. If it happens just hand them a shell.

It can be startling to see a hermit crab molt @Krae, they look pretty lifelike at first glance, especially if they're moving a little in the current! That's definitely a crab molt though 🙂
