Chinese got it wrong , it's advertised at 25gph when it's actually 317gph .

I am with you seabass, all my tanks are Aqueon with rims.  I focus on whats inside and I know I can still enjoy my tiny pico when the contest is over, even if its in the janky category! 😆

Rimless or janky. Clean silicone or janky. Level tank or janky. But I'm still leaning towards janky because it's easiest to make a lid for it.

Maybe I'd think differently if my tank was off as much as yours.  Have you done a water test yet?

 

I'm actually quite satisfied with mine.  I considered making one, but it would have cost me more.

I had it for another build I was going to do. I "leak tested" it for 3 weeks.

Looks are deceiving. The yellow part has about 1000/2000 holes in it 

FYI both surface skimmer media columns are removable for maintenance

Depending on rules one column will be deleted..

Yep I have the rimless on the way.........but hit the local Petco and well they had the 2.5s for 12 bucks..........and to be honest they didnt look that bad toiher than looked like a 3 year old did the silicone.........

Don't get down before it even starts.  First, it's primarily for fun, some healthy competition and comradery, maybe even some smack talk.  I do notoriously poorly in these competitions.  I had one person vote for my last contest tank; bless their heart.  I suspect I won't even do that well this time.

 

For me, it's like playing the lottery; you know you won't win, but it's still fun to dream.  I don't have a clue what the prizes are, but they are usually fairly nice.  Still, I'm not in it for the prizes.  Don't worry what others are doing, or how much they might be spending on equipment and livestock.  Just execute your own vision, and make this tank for yourself.
