If it grows bigger and fills in the middle it will look great framed by the green gsp or carpet anemone looking things on either side. It’s a fantastic goni!! The clownfish love that thing. I’m just happy it doesn’t get over loved and stay closed up. I can’t wait for this tank to fill in. 1 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
Every day I wake up and watch these clowns fuss over their red goni. And they’re getting super feisty about me putting my hand in the tank, even if to stir sand or adjust something knocked over by a snail. Thankfully they don’t bully Interceptor, but they’re pretty obnoxious about their territory, which happens to be the entire center of the tank. Today it was the whole tank, while I fixed the wave pump. If Billy bites me, I may have to flick her right in the face. Otherwise, only one zoa refuses to open, and I *think* it is the Orion’s Belt one. Either that or the orange bam bam. I hope it’ll come around. The others are doing pretty well. Decided to try growing stuff on the wall today to put the blue green leptastrea on the wall, got a new strawberry crush cyphastrea, a Tubbs stellata and a rainbow monti. I have high hopes. This tank never wants to grow coralline so maybe these corals will take off. The euphyllia are starting to take off and it’s super gratifying. The gold torch I got a few weeks ago is starting to color up a bit so I’m excited to see how that will mature out. Oh yeah and my new blue flame favia 🤩🤩🤩. I’m in love, holy cow. 2 Quote Link to comment

ECLS Reefer
Caught a couple of shots with Interceptor in the open- he usually still runs away from people near the tank. He’s still pretty teeny weeny but he’s a chonky little dude. I assume he’s eating the broadcast food I give the clowns because I can’t believe there’s that many pods left in there anymore, yet he’s getting thick. Good sign though 6 1 Quote Link to comment

billygoat
It's been quite a few months since I checked in on this thread, but I have to say - wow! I remember you having quite a few stubborn issues back in the day, but they sure seem to have been resolved. This tank looks great! 😄 2 1 Quote Link to comment

I don’t really do much in here and I’ve gotten my media routine down to only phosguard and carbon, with a small square of filter floss. I had some issues briefly with cyano on the sand bed but I’m guessing it was light induced. It went away with vigilant sand basting and time. Otherwise the only losses I’ve had are the goby disappearing (which may mean nothing- he’s been known to hide) and some zoas disappearing (they detached from their drag plugs and blew around the tank. Small chance they may still grow). Someday this tank is going to be so full and bright I won’t be able to see the fish. 2 Quote Link to comment

The more time I spend in this hobby, the more I realize that "not doing much" is basically the key to successful reefkeeping. 😁 Seriously, your tank looks fantastic. If anything I'd be worried that before too long you're going to have some coral wars on your hands, with everything growing and expanding as much as it is. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah I suspect I’ll have work trimming stuff to keep it from melting it’s neighbor. The GSP is already encroaching on stuff in a couple places- the pocillopora and the acan echinata. It’ll be interesting to see who wins the acan/GSP fight. Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
Have a HUGE surprise coming for this tank Thursday!! As this is “J’s tank” though I do all the work, it’s “his” surprise. His birthday is October so I guess he can claim it. Sooooo excited!!! Anyway here’s the porcelain cleaning the GSP and having his deener 6 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
Whew! FINALLY able to snatch Hope van Dyne out of the 120g and get her to the Evo where I'd intended her to go all along. Can't enjoy her very well in the big big tank when she's a nano fish and so secretive. But, caught her easily and transferred her in a jar of 120 water to the Evo which was temp matched. She swam right in. And since the lights are already off she's still hanging out being seen. 7 3 Quote Link to comment

ECLS Reefer
I am super happy that I finally caught and transferred Hope van Dyne. She seems happier in the Evo as well- not as much current, certainly not as many nosey neighbors. A few random coral shots- tank is starting to really fill in during the day! I can’t wait for the stuff on the walls to start encrusting. 6 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
Okay so Eddie the possum doesn’t belong here but I was so lucky to grab a shot of him- he’s hard to catch on camera. Hope van Dyne has decided to be more bold and came out during the day today, and practically stampeded our for dinner. The clowns Billy and Dilly both came to check her out and both said NOPE and went back to their goniopora. Some stills of her and some video of her scooting around. 2 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
Video of the clowns checking Hope van Dyne out- it’s slightly long but maybe you can scroll thru it. 1 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
This little tank is really starting to make me proud with all the strong growth, the happy clowns and Mandy, and now the little wasp fish. Everyone is in love with her and Eddie the possum wrasse in the big tank. She was waiting for me when I got home tonight, expecting her dinner. Have noticed that with maturity the black ice clowns have both gotten much blacker- their black lines have gotten much wider and more pronounced. Interesting to see how they started vs how they look now. Baby Billy n Dilly: 3 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
Practicing shots on the Evo. Have a great new lens that takes amazing FTS but haven’t got an 85b filter to fit yet. 2 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
She made me wait up until 2 am Friday night for pictures of her. It’s a sadness that she’s decided to remain a night shift fish 😞. But she remains mysterious and beautiful! I spent allllll day yesterday painstaking putting the black background in to cut out the dirty glass and blurry background. I wanted her to stand out. She’s really so little in real life. Love the complicated camouflage of her reds and whites when you zoom in on her crest. Glamour shot Her little fins look almost like lace Same glamour shots but without the black background 5 2 Quote Link to comment

ECLS Reefer
Talk about some coral porn 🤭 The pectinia was looking rather... pec-ish..... The Tubbs stellata is looking good in there these days. The frogspawn has grown so much from a tiny frag! The acan echinata is getting poofier Zoas have been growing out lately as well, competing with the neighboring GSP The sunrise monti is looking fabulous lately, starting to flare out on it’s plug. I think it’ll be encrusting on the tank wall soon. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
