The stock lid really does trap in heat. I’m having the same issue and just ordered a new light last week.

Tank is looking great, I like your aquascape.

Got bored today, decided the EVO needed a flashy shrimp. Wandered down the road to the LFS, where the lady was actually NICE for a change. Ended up with 2 margarita snails and a cute baby rock flower anemone.

I hope Squishy gets bigger and happy in there. The EVO is doing so much better in this evolution that it kind of worries me that I'm doing the tests wrong! This time around I have only had to do water changes so far every 2 weeks. It never acted like that with the fist attempt. But, I have upgraded the pump this time too, and only moderately stocked it.

HOLY CRAP one of the margarita snails just slapped Dot the Clown in the face 😂😂😂😂 It is trying to flip itself back over and she got smacked.

So, got home last night from work to find that Whiskers the Scarlet Shrimp had become a medium priced meal for The Brain (strawberry crab) and Dr Weir. And I mean, they were snacking hard. Not sure what got him, whether the crabs brought him down or he died, but something of a bummer regardless. However, in the aftermath of losing a flashy member of the tank, which has become something of my husband's pet, he said we need another fish....

Of course I will!! And a couple new crabs, and a few new snails, and a new RFA, all to pretty up that little tank. I love invertebrates!! They make the life in there interesting to watch.

Otherwise, today was water testing and change day on every tank, so very busy day!! Forced the kiddos to help, so at least it got done in a timely manner. Now they're all happily swimming away in there!

Aw man you've got to be kidding me! Dr Weir, well played. Had me completely convinced you were lunch, but I guess it was just a very juicy shed that The Brain snacked on. Much like your namesake, can't kill you... Just don't be dragging anybody to hell... Otherwise his tank mates are doing well.

The new arrivals for the Evo came today. Of course, can't ever get a perfect shipment, so it was short one porcelain crab and the coral banded shrimp arrived almost dead, VERY weak. He's in the tank, but who knows if he'll make it through the night. He perked up a tiny bit after a while, and I even put him through the same long acclimation process as the fish, but he's definitely super weak. Also arrived today-Mandy the mandarin. She's a girl. She's been in there happily snagging pods; we will have to get a new bottle for her next week to beef up the population.

Got a new RFA, who didn't disappear immediately exactly, but definitely decided to live on the side of a rock where you can only BARELY see one edge of him. Turd. Also received a purple condi, who's happily spreading out in there and already greedily had a shrimp chunk. Also added some bumblebee snails and more margarita snails to help keep the algae down, and a new electric blue since the other got snacked on several weeks back.

Overall this tank is happy and pretty. The one GBeeGee, Barry, has been growing like a little weed. His little friend Robin, not so much but he's a sneaky little thing and hard to find. Usually find him giving you the stink eye from under a rock. Just glad this tank is so far moving along without issues (knock on A LOT of wood)

Will add some pictures tonight after everyone has had a little more time settling in.

Finally managed to snag a picture of “Mandy” the mandarin. My husband is in love- he’s been standing over the tank talking to her all afternoon 😂

The CBS seems a bit more perky and has even been moving around the back of the rocks, so I'll cross my fingers that he'll get stronger and make it. We shall see in the morning.

This is what the CBS looked like when he first went in the tank. He won't cooperate and move to a spot that lends itself to pictures so, we will see how he looks in the morning.

Well, he survived the night, but seems to have come out of a battle minus one claw. Or he maybe ejected it? Not sure if they do that, but regardless he's one down, but more mobile today. Mandy the mandarin is doing well settling in, and the nems are both still figuring life out. The RFA will peek out over the top of the rock and then go back down the side where you can't see it. The condy is still in the same spot it picked yesterday but seems to be pinching off the tips of its tentacles. Otherwise it seems fine.

Shrimp shouldn't drop claws for no reason; I imagine he either got into a fight or had a bad molt. More likely the former, otherwise you probably wouldn't be seeing him in a visible spot already.

Yeah I suspect it was The Brain- he saw this shrimp as a possible late night snack and made a grab for him. Lately The Brain only comes out at night, and he’s eaten an electric blue crab, and a scarlet shrimp. And he ate that whole moly from the Halloween crab. Plus he’s a big crab. Hopefully this shrimp keeps his running shoes on.

This little tank is doing so well I’m afraid to brag on it! I pulled out the middle chamber media holder today and threw in some old dead coral frags and a live rock. Gonna try and see if I can make it a refugium/small pod home for Mandy. I’m not too jazzed at the idea of tanking anything at all from the big tank and exposing the Evo to it, if brook lives in there. Otherwise, just got two cheap little rhodactis heads. I may in the future out maybe one colony of zoas in there but I think this is all the coral I’ll put in here. I wanted this tank more for the fish swimming in it, than a colorful display.

Second baby- fell off its rock too, so I hope it’ll root to this one and I don’t have to resort to glue.

Well, shrimply died- found him floating in a little swirl zone. I’m surprised no one snacked on him. Guess I’ll have to wait and see if I can find a healthy specimen of large shrimp.

Got the new snails/shrimp in and some pods for Mandy the mandarin. Hopefully I can promote some pod growth in there-there'd been a heavy population but I guess she stripped them down to almost nothing.

Ordered a "bonded" pair of coral banded shrimp for this tank, and when they arrived, in separate bags, I had a bad feeling. Sure enough put them in the tank and the big one immediately declawed the smaller one-I've never seen something attack so fast in these tanks. Anyway, snatched the little one out with her poor claws and put her in the sump of the SCA. Immediate divorce. Now the big guy is hiding behind the torch and under the condy. I'm sure he'll do fine in there. Hope the smaller one does okay so I can put her in the DT eventually.

Water change day today! Noticed I didn't get too much out of the sand bed when I siphoned but did find a bunch of nastiness on the rocks. Put cheato in the middle media chamber yesterday to hopefully get this refugium going well. Have a small plant light in there (Mingdak waterproof plant light, moved the heater to that chamber too since it has more consistent water levels. Used a plankton net for now to block the flow out of that chamber into the pump chamber, to keep the algae in and hopefully regulate some of the outflow of the pods. Working so far, and I hope I can get a good pod hotel going.

Rearranged the corals a tad, trying to find the hammer's happy spot in here. The flow is fairly high, so may have to work at it. The refugium section I've made is seemingly doing well. The cheato in there is not turning to mush that I can see, and every time I pull up the dam some pods flow into the main tank for Mandy. So seems like my little cheat using a plankton net to block the outflow to the pump chamber is working.

Just pleased that this tank is still plugging along. Got the bio bricks in and seeding them overnight in MB7, and will install some in all three tanks. Hopefully will make like happier with everyone.

Weekly water change and nasty filter floss swap day! Oh and discovered something wonderful- Squishy LIVES!!!! Have thought all this time that he dissolved or was taken by aliens but no- he’s been hiding. He’s actually been growing merrily wherever he’s been so he looks great! So, unfortunately both Gibbs brothers died, having been consumed by crabs. Not sure why they keep getting snagged for dinner but they were tiny, and the crabs all carnivores... miss their little faces.

The CBS passed when there was a salinity spike- this tank lacks an ATO (ordered now!) and unfortunately RO water wasn’t given back for the evap during the day. Mistake on our part- we’ve been working so much lately and both me and the hubs forgot. Since I’m leaving this weekend for a trip I went ahead and got a new ATO to avoid this in the future. New Smart Micro. I have the same on the big tank and it’s been working beautifully.

Otherwise Spot and Dot are doing great and I found them a Jacque- cleaner shrimp. He’s super active and still trying to get them to warm up to him.
