Not an SPS guy myself either (yet) working up to it.

From what I have read, browning usually means it is absorbing phosphates, have you tested for Phosphates and Nitrates recently? Any recent algae issues?

How is the brain coral coming along?

PO4 was 0.03 according to LFS. I ended up adding some Phosguard.  No noticeable change in color.

The brain has dropped a couple pieces.  Two still have tissue. The others are just skeletons.

The ATI/NBR hybrid is installed!!!  I’m calling it the tur-duck-en light.

T5s off and LEDs dimming for the night.

and a quick shot with all lights on.  The T5s are dimmed to ~50%. I need to adjust the LEDs since the T5s are on the whiter side... an ATI aquablue special and a Giesemann 6500K Tropic.

Thanks for looking,

The light turns out awesome!!
R u going to Ann Arbor swap this wknd?  maybe I can hear/learn more about it in person then.

Thanks!

I’m pretty excited to have it done.  One thing that’s bugging me is all of the extra wire on the hanging kit.  I plan to cut most of it off but need to figure out how to keep the end from fraying.

No Ann Arbor swap for me. I pretty much only attend Lansing swaps... lame, I know.

you can buy the zinc/aluminum crimping caps for the ends.  I don't know where to look though, probably start at hardware stores.

I agree. I was really excited to find the older style fixture.

8 pucks and 6 T5 had to be insanely bright!

So clean looking! I love your setup.

ATI/Nanobox Hybrids are the way to go 👍

Thank you.

So far I really like the combo of T5 and Nanobox. I’m still working on acclimating the coral to the additional light, so the T5s are only on for 1.5 hours/day.

Yeah I called it the tanning light but the corals seemed to like it.........others not so much and bleached out some..........

I thought of doing it again over the new tank but in the end just to expensive going from a 48" to a 60" fixture......... I wish they made 6 foot T5 bulbs.......

I added a Strawberry conch about a month ago and the difference in the sand bed is impressive.

the crimping is not as clean as I’d like, but I‘m too cheap to buy the swaging tool.

Thanks @mitten_reef for the recommendation.

Apparently I have a bloodthirsty yuma.  I didn’t catch it in the act, but here’s what it did to a favia...

I took a little time to get the ATI fixture wires tucked in and mount the TUNZE 6040 controller. This is before...

All is well on the reef.  On to my second bottle of All for Reef.  Currently dosing 3.5 mL/day. I’m a fan of this stuff.

Thanks!  I’ll try to get a picture of the portion of the coral that has grown on the underside of the rock... when the lights are on tomorrow.

I have been enjoying all of your coral photos recently. Both here and on Instagram. Keep up the great work!

Hi all tank is still running. I had numerous corals declining and coralline dying so I tried and ICP test by ATI.  Thank goodness I did. The salinity was at 40!  Turns out 15+ year old refractometer calibration fluid doesn’t stay at 35 ppt. Things are turning around now that salt content has been corrected. The test also showed elevated Tin. Checked all pumps and no sign of rust. I replaced the float switch in the ATO reservoir thinking may be solder was to blame.

I’ll try to remember to post some photos soon.
