Pending... Planning... Patiently waiting

Goals:

  • Keep it simple
  • Enjoy the Caribbean species
  • Experiment with breeding RFAs

Plan:

  • Clean tank - 3/23 - 26/19
  • Build light hanger, tiered for t5 sunblaster in the back 1/3 above the mangroves, and the front 1/3 lower to suspend the dou
  • Final placement and set of tank, stand, and equipment - 4/1/19
  • About 3" of sand, 60# - 4/7/19
  • Start cycle with sand only to build bacterial colony - 4/7/19
  • Order 25ish# gulf live rock, complete cycle with lights in hopes of preserving life on rock and give adequate time to discover hitchhikers - ORDERED KpAquatics 25# deliver 4/18/19
  • Start with Jawfish, add Royal Gramma last. - Oops, Royal added first because of Mantis - 5/9/19
  • Move RFA from "Revamp" - they went MIA before setup
  • Order RFAs

Pending:

  • IM Lagoon 25 - picked up 3/23, cleaned 3/23 - 35 and in house 3/26
  • MP10 - paid, shipped 02/07, and 02/12 delivery

Planning:

Keep it simple, stupid! Keep it dirty.

  • Gulf Live Rock - changed to KP Aquatics live rock 25#
  • Special Reef Grade Aragonite - changed to Caribsea Western Caribbean
  • 3 - 5 Mangroves
  • Macroalgeas

  • Yellowhead jawfish
  • Molly Miller Blenny
  • Neon Goby
  • Green Banded Goby

  • No current plan besides hitchhikers
  • Gorgs and Rics (possibly)

Like most of us, I had plenty of gear laying around to start this project.

Nanobox Dou

  • Torn down - 2/2
  • Parts ordered from Dave @ nanobox - 2/4 & shipped
  • Parts arrived 02/06
  • The LEDs must be wired in SERIES! I had to tear the light apart to rebuild it 02/07
  • Needs some paint (too cold), soldering (finished 02/07), and assembly completed and tested (02/09)

Tunze ATO 3152 or 3155

  • Needs cleaning - worse than i remembered (cleaned 02/09)
  • Tunze 3155 used with the alarms set to "no audible alarm" and dosing set to "nano"

That’s an oldy. Let me know what help you need.

The dou has been in the garage in partly disassembled for over 2 years. Im changing it from a 2 channel goose neck light to a 4 channel hanging light. Dave will be sending me up with the 4 channel driver board and hanging kit.

I use the storm controller on mine but basically run the mixed reef setting per the nano box settings guide. I run just mints for about a year now,but mind you i dont have much in way of livestock in the tank for a lot of the year, just a bta or two and some zoa frags really.

Mixed reef is 75% for all the channels but the white which I believe is 25%?🤔😆

Definitely wanna see the final product

I'm looking forward to it too. But the tank is currently in use at my buddies house. So it might be a long wait to cycle and get going

I just put some in my mini tank...... I wish I had used it in my 75.

Its the best sand I've ever seen for a tank, I have my mp10 pn like 65% and it doesnt move it around.

It is nice. I’m just too lazy to swap a sandbed. ☹️ Thought about doing a little mix-a-roo. 😀

That wouldn't be bad,I couldnt as mine was black and full of 3 years of junk so it all had to go. So glad I did.

My soldering iron is "lost". My neighbor loaned me his. Half the joints made and the final cuts made. Tomorrow USPS says they'll deliver the driver board and hanging kit from Dave. That should have the light completed this week. I'll need some weather to paint the driver housing.
