Hello everyone,

I have been recently interested in REAAAAAAALLLLLLYYYYY small fish for my aquarium. Small as in 1 inch maximum size.  Among those are Eviota, Trimma, Bryaninops and  Aioliops gobies. Has anyone kept them before? Where can I get them?

Here are some of my favorites, because why not?

Eviota bifasciata and Eviota atriventris

They’re nice. Few things to concider:

*they need frequent/multiple feedings per day.

* they can and will jump.

* some are aggressive towards its own kind and even more so towards other dwarf gobies.

* they don’t live long. 1 year an avarage.

Does it have to be schooling fish?

Liveaquaria may be your best bet unless you can ask a LFS to special order?

It would be a nice thing if they school, but not necessary. I will ask my LFS to see if the can get them for me.

Thanks! Will definitely take that into account if I get them.

My LFS have Trimma cana in often. Great for a small tank as long as you keep up your water care. twice a day feeding is good or supplement with live foods.

Awesome! Thanks!

Another option is a panda goby... I had a pair for  a while..  tiny fish which like to hide in the branches of birds nest type coral. They may fall prey to hermit crabs ... as mine did.

KP Aquatics sometimes carries small fish. I have some masked gobies and a rusty goby from them. These small fish do tend to hide a lot but they're all out at feeding time.

Clown gobies are pretty cute and although mild mannered they are not as shy as some small fish.  Barnacle blennies are really cute too as they dart from 1 hidey hole to another.

I have to agree on the barnacle blennie... I had one for quite some time and it was one of the most desirable fish. By accident it got shipped out in apiece of live rock I had to return...

Small fish are a pain to stock in most stores....they're small enough to get in between tanks in the small subdivided systems...and into the plumbing of the larger systems.  Lost fish cannot be sold.
