Noobreefer90
Ok so I just upgraded from a 14g biocube to a 36g bowfront. I know in my biocube I had to top off often does the bigger you get the faster it evaluates Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
Yes, in my 5 gallon I had to barely top off. In my 25 it’s almost 4 gallons a week right now. Quote Link to comment
paulsz
The bigger the surface area, the more evaporates. And so the more you will have to top off. The biocube is 15.5 inches long, 16.7 inches wide. The 36g bowfront is the same length, but almost twice as wide. So there is more area and you can expect more evaporation. Quote Link to comment
Smitty26
I have to top off my 55 gallon a 1/2 to a full gallon a day. Quote Link to comment

Clown79
My 25g needs a lot more water topped up than my 10g and 5g. Quote Link to comment
BoisBlancBoy
Depends on your the relative humidity also. 1 Quote Link to comment
Sjadet
Depends on surface area, aeriation, temperature, air humidity etc. I have a Fluval Edge and they have a very small top with a hood on, so it's only needed to be topped off once every 3-4 days. While I also have a sps frag tank with a lot of surface movement which loses about .5 gallons per day or almost 4% of the water volume. 1 Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
The biocube was effectively covered where the new tank has a mostly-open top...you're seeing the normal difference between covered and uncovered tanks. ATO's are commonplace for a good reason. 😉 Quote Link to comment
