Aquacrazed
So for about 2 months now my female Clownfish seems to be behaving erratically, seems to happen mostly when someone comes close to the tank. She is eating just fine. Here is a video: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1DWdVrzLTjQjOUiKIgAV_vfyQuIJbPDBf Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment

Does she always act like this, even when there is no one near the tank? It looks almost as if she's picking a fight with her own reflection/whoever's outside the tank. Was she a very aggressive clownfish, by any chance? My Clarkii clown acts the same way your female does, but only when I put my hands in her tank to scrape the glass (for maintenance). (She also bites my hand and nips at the bracelet I have on my right wrist - she's crazy that way). Could be a sign of dominance/aggression. @Clown79, what do you think? (Sorry for the tag - but I figured you'll know more about this than I do). Quote Link to comment
Aquacrazed
Thanks! The tank has been up and running for 2 years now and I've had the clowns for almost a year. Yes, she is aggressive, bites my hand when I put it in, but the male does it too although the female does it more. She gets along fine with the male (was fighting with him before but I guess now they are bonded), never had a problem with the Orchid Dotty that's in the tank also. But this erratic behavior is a recent development though (last 2 months), doesn't seem to do it when I am near the tank. Quote Link to comment

My blenny spazes when near the glass and I think it's because it sees it's own reflection. My female does some odd stuff too. 14 minutes ago, Aquacrazed said: Thanks! Does this happen when you aren't near the tank or when the fish isn't near the glass? Try observing from a distance, see how she is acting when she isn't near the glass. 1 Quote Link to comment

Sorry, he seems to do it when *I am near* the the tank, I made a mistake in my last post. He doesn't seem to do it when I am far away. Quote Link to comment

If it's only when you come near, it's just the fish getting aggressive and territorial 1 Quote Link to comment
jservedio
Mine do this if I stand near the tank for more than a few seconds. She is just crazy aggressive and will keep getting more aggressive. If she isn't big enough already, she'll start drawing blood and you'll never stick your hand in there with the lights on if you can avoid it! The male will get more aggressive most likely and follow her lead. She might be getting ready to start laying eggs. Mine got significantly more aggressive when she started laying eggs. 1 Quote Link to comment

I see, maybe she is getting ready to lay eggs. Where did yours lay eggs? Mine seem to be hosting the GSP. Quote Link to comment

Mine seem to be hosting the GSP. Mine are hosted by a bta, but used to live on an acan echinata. They spawn on bare rock directly next to our under their host. They will scrub the spawn site clean of algae and will care for that patch eggs or not. It'll be pretty obvious if they are getting ready. 1 Quote Link to comment
