Wild collected usually come in significantly larger. Like 4 or more inches. Beyond that, you wont have any difference between wild, or farmed. 

 

I can't speak about health issues. I've only had farmed clams. I've known 3 people with wild clams. All 3 of those were healthy. Whatever that is worth.

As far as I'm aware. They are still T. crocea, or T. maxima. Genetically they are identical (with minor variances) to wild clams. There would be no reason they would reach a smaller maximum size than a wild individual.

Thanks. Thats what I needed too know. I want a maxima because of the vivid colors but my tank is only 3 feet long. The clam to tank ratio would be ugly. Mostly for the clam.
