This is a red sea reefer 170 that I got off a fellow reefer in the area that was shutting down their tank. I'm keeping it simple, bb like all my tanks, a skimmer, filter sock and carbon.

Fish list:

Coral beuty angelfish

Clownfish

Regal tang

Thank you.

Neat setup @k4ndyk1ng! Is the livestock from the original tank owner, or things you've found on your own? Great SPS collection! Are the mangroves rooted in the rock on the right side?

Thank you, the livestock is all my own, got the tank dry. The rocks are from the evo/pico and some of the corals are from there too. Most of the corals are new and the sps like the stability of a larger tank. The mangroves are very close to rooting in the rocks but it has taken them a while to root down over 12 inches.

Got some new rock made for this tank, so moved the liverock to the sump and the new rock is in. Also glued the frags off the rack onto the rock.

That looks really cool in that space.🙂  If you had showed it by itself out of the tank I would say no way!

Every thing is going alright with the tank, however my green slimer has been losing flesh and I am not sure why. All params are where they should be and it's not been moved in months. All other corals are ok and growing.

Been away for the past month and had the tank looked after by my girlfriend who did a great job with limiuted knowledge. Only casualty was one of the clownfish to the carpet. Some coral has been growing at an alarming pace and others growing very slowly but all showing great colours.

Cheers man, the tank is looking a bit different now. Had a huge crash last year due to the return pump not starting up when I was away and lost everything except the fish. ONly recently been getting back into the corals.

And you learned that a Foxface isn't meant for ~35g display?

Nice sps growth when you had it. What were you dosing?

I looks like you have some type of fromia starfish in there (?) if so, it will starve and die at some point. We're not ready to keep them as hobbyists (at least with normal-sized tanks). Similar to flame scallops.

Good luck on the restart! I have a RS170 as well and will keep tabs 🙂

I was just dosing some fauna marine stuff that I got second hand off another reefer in the area, was dosing over 100ml of the alk solution at the peak. Fromia star (tile star?) was aquired from someone else shutting their tank down which is also where I got the colonies cheap. I do like this tank but got the ich to upgrade, the only thing stopping me is moving house next summer. Thank you for the kind words everyone.

Not too much going on, got a couple more frags.

Could anyone be able to ID any of these corals except the millies as I have no idea.

Many thanks.

Hey guys, still collecting more frags and slowly filling this thing up again. Still focusing on the acros. Looking to upgrade the tank to 5-6ft tank so the tang can be moved to something much bigger.
