vlangel
The tank is looking great. I love the a acan garden. I have been thinking about a small sharpness puffer too. I plan to watch yours a while before I decide, haha! I'm glad you caught the dottyback. Your fish selection is quite nice. You have some of my favorites. Quote Link to comment

Fish selection has always been very important to me since I got into this hobby +\- 10 years ago really just wanting a fowlr tank and then got hit by the coral bug. 1 Quote Link to comment

She did pick off a few small snails when I restocked the cuc but I think it’s because they were an easy target floating in mid air. She’s left the others alone. No coral casualties so far. SliceGolfer
Nice upgrade! Really like the purple & orange coral on the sand bed. Which piece is that? On 12/14/2018 at 7:35 PM, Poodges said: Quote Link to comment

Thanks so much. That was an Acan Echinata. Funny enough, I just gave that piece plus a couple zoa frags to a good friend of mine since kindergarten. He's a marine biology teacher at a local high school and has a sweet reef set up in his classroom. I added this chalice in it's place: Quote Link to comment

They’re happy there at the bottom just on the edge of the light spread and very random flow from the mp10s. Puffer is doing great. Really a nice addition so far. She mostly swims out in the open space with the clowns and blenny. Good eater and leaves inverts and corals alone. The Melanurus is doing good as well. Very busy swimmer. He’s actually caused my sunburst athias to get a little bolder which is great. The anthias used to just hover in the bottoms left cave. That’s where the wrasse buries itself at night. I guess they are cave buddies. Quote Link to comment

Poodges
Did a water change yesterday and moved a few things around. New FTS: Left Side: Right Side: Pinky the Fathead Anthias: Acan Alley: Brain Lane: Leo and Mona the "DaVinci Clowns": Beginnings of Zoa Mountain, 9 pretty sweet frags on here, room for one more: WWC Circus Rings: Old man Earl, he's been with me 4 years. I think he's nearing the end, lost all his color but eating well: Le Torch: New Toadstool from WWC, really neat blueish color: 3 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
Spoiler Please tell me more about this awesome looking tank!! This is what I'm thinking of getting for my next tank, and if I have read right it comes as a package deal with return pumps and sock filters and the ability to add skimmers and other goodies in the back, correct? How many gallons does it actually hold when said and done? And do you have any idea how much it weighs? I'm also thinking about what to put it on since I'd rather have a book case or display table rather than aquarium stand. Does it come set up as a reef tank already, no mods needed? Self contained with no holes in the bottom for return drainage like other reef tanks? Anything else special you can tell me? It seems like the most practical route for us to go for a bigger tank, so unless I hear bad things about it, I'm going to be moving toward that model of tank when I can. Is there a best place to get them? Quote Link to comment

ECLS Reefer
My ultimate goal is to figure the saltwater basics out and then schmooze my husband into getting us an SR 80. Do you like your SR 60? Does it run well? Did you make a lot of changes to the factory stuff that came with it? My brother has two 180gallon tanks that he had made custom for his house and his office, but since I'm not tearing into my wall for something like that, I'm probably just going to go with something smaller and more living room friendly. But yeah- that SR system looks like a good deal to me, as a newbie. I definitely want!! Your reef is GORGEOUS!!! Quote Link to comment

Is there a best place to get them? First off, my apologies for never responding. I had things on autopilot, really just letting the tank grow and enjoying it. Then, I went on vacation for a week and had some things go wrong...yada yada and have been battling issues ever since. Back on track now. Regarding the tank, I picked it up used so I can't comment too much on the original equipment. I can tell you this, it has wonderful dimensions for a shallow reef. It's basically a 40 breeder display with equipment in the back. Regarding the weight, it's definitely heavy. I built my own stand for it with tripled up 2x4s in each corner. Probably over kill but I too wanted something that looked more like furniture than and aquarium stand. All this is probably irrelevant to you since you posted 7 months ago. If you still have questions for me, I promise I'll respond faster next time. Thanks for looking. 1 Quote Link to comment

I actually don't hear them at all but my skimmer pump is a little loud. Good and adjustable flow. I see that you got an SR60 as well. How are things going? Quote Link to comment
Poodges
Man oh man.... it's been over 7 months since I last posted about this tank. I had just been enjoying the tank, keeping up with maintenance and letting things grow out. That is.... until I went out of town for a week and it all went downhill. I'm still not 100% sure what happened but I do know my salinity got stupid low. I did a big water change before leaving town and had a broken refractometer that was reading high even after calibrating. Corals started closing all day and I couldn't figure out why because all other params were decent. I got some help from a LFS who discovered my salinity issue. Also, a fish went missing and never surfaced for removal. We hypothesized that I had some good bacteria die off due to the low salinity and some extra waste in the tank due to a presumably dead and trapped fish. I've been battling diatoms and cyano ever since but things are starting to get better. I came back to the site to ask for an algae ID and realized I had been M.I.A. for too long so here are some updated pics: 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Poodges
Did a water change yesterday and a little re-scaping. Busted up a large rock of palys last week that were beginning to take over and will be delivering frags to a friend's school tank Tuesday. Added a Red Scooter Blenny today who was eating frozen at the LFS. Really cool fish. My favorite view 3/4 shot Scooter Stylo Yoshi Tri-Kessil Power 3 1 Quote Link to comment

Seems like tunze 9012 fits, have u checked this skimmer or are u happy whit the 9004? Hi! Great looking scape. I like the arches and space between for swimming. What's your plan for stocking? No, I haven't looked at that skimmer. I'm happy with the one I have. It does a good job and fits perfectly in the second chamber on the left side. I struggle with it a little bit because I didn't leave enough space for my hand to completely fit between the tank and the wall for adjusting the magnets. Quote Link to comment
