Vaideen
I just bought a Pocillopora frag (though it was advertised as an Acro frag) yesterday, and I didn't notice, until I got it home, that a large portion of the frag is actually white (I couldn't see this under the LFS's bright blue lights). I'm not sure if it's tissue necrosis or bleaching, but the rest of the frag looks to be doing ok, the polyps look nice and healthy. The red stuff might be slime, not sure tho. I'm worried that it's tissue necrosis, but I'm hoping it's just a bit of bleaching that'll go away in time Quote Link to comment
Joevember
Probably both. Cut off the healthiest parts at the top and toss the base. It's likely to spread up and kill the rest. Quote Link to comment
Clown79
It looks like the flesh was peeling off. I'd frag the healthy parts off. Quote Link to comment
Vaideen
Okay I clipped off the healthier looking bits, and threw away the dead bits. I don't expect all the pieces to survive, but at least one of them looks mostly alive, so here's hoping to that. Might even get a couple more pocillopora frags, though I'll make sure they don't have tissue necrosis. btw, can anyone ID this particular pocillopora? Quote Link to comment
Joevember
Can't tell, it doesn't look opened up. Also, you should mount it so the polyps aren't touching the rock. 1 Quote Link to comment
