Whoa this weirded me out.. it’s bad enough when someone changes their avatar or picture but their name too?? Hahaa.. I take it you are now selling your frag rocks and that’s what inspired the switch?? Going to take me a minute to get used to the new name after seeing your posts for a year now lol.. FYI the rock frag racks do look awesome 👏

Ha yeah it kinda weirds me out for some reason also.  Kinda like changing my birth name or something. I’m going to keep my own personal posts going of course but will be sponsoring nano-reef very soon so I am just changing a few things up leading up to it.  My “marketing” posts etc will be in my NanoRox forum.  🙂

Oh man I need to get on Instagram. Lawnman told me he is posting primarily there too... just too many things to follow and keep up with... I’ll try to scope it out. 

 

In the meantime, super excited about getting your magnetic frag rock on Monday and trying it out!!! Looks amazing!

      Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of nanobox... they’re  site sponsor. Nanobox Reef. LED lights. 

Whatever, it’s fine. Just seems VERY close to another small businesse’s name that also is marketed to small reefs.

 

      Its like me starting a “stirbucks” coffee shop? Totally fine, but kind of.... odd? Bordering on unethical? Trying to associate one stores successwith another. I guess it’s not my place to mention it, if nanobox doesn’t like it they could say something for themself.      

 

      Im not bashing. It’s just like for my toggle box product I can’t call them “Apex” toggle boxes because I am not part of nor represent Neptune Systems. I say they are “directly compatible with the Neptune apex”. But I also wouldn’t call myself “Neptone Systems”. Especially it my targeted market is the same as them (reefing hobbiests).

I didn’t say I had never heard of Dave’s company.  I own one of his lights.  What I said was I never considered the name I chose to somehow infringe on his.  They are completely  different products.  We both use the word nano also as does many other people and companies.  Rox and box rhyme...I don’t see that as an issue simply because both deal in aquarium products.  The implication of me being borderline unethical as you say is rather insulting but you have your opinion and that’s fine. Sorry you feel that way because that is certainly not my intent.

     Fair enough. In my defense, I did not say that YOU were unethical, just that having a name so similar to another company in the same market (nano reefers) seems borderline unethical. I believe that it could have been completely accidental. My comment was not intended to be a personal insult, just my subjective opinion based off of the similarity of the names. Dave at nanobox is a cool guy, I doubt he would mind.  

 

Once again- I am NOT claiming that it is illegal or that you are unethical. However the target audience is the same and the names very similar. It stood out enough that I wanted to look up the of trademark infringement; that is all I am saying.

I’m just starting out.  It’s a one man show so “company” is a fairly broad term.  🙂  I (NanoRox) make resin magnetic frag rocks (hence the name “Rox”...my attempt at being catchy).  I am also an avid nano reef aquarist who just loves nano tanks (I’ve been on the forum here for a little over a year now).  I hesitate to go into too much detail until I officially sponsor nano-reef. Feel free to pm me and I will be happy to share the website etc.

Well I hate it is causing an issue for some folks.  Nanoracks was already taken, I didn’t like nanorocks with the logo design so settled on NanoRox (again trying to be catchy).  Outside of this group I don’t think it would even be an issue.  Perhaps I should forego sponsorship.  I suppose I should have gone with my second choice of “smalltankresincoralfragrockelikestructures” but it seemed too long.  🙂
