Tank cycling question, once cycled does bacteria starve?

Hi,

This may sound like an odd question but I was wondering if I would need to add ammonia to a cycled tank to feed the bacteria there or would it be ok to leave the tank as is once it’s cycled with nothing in it for a while? I’m guessing the bacteria won’t die off right?

Oh, I should mention I have some chaeto in my back chamber.

The bacteria will not die. Bacteria is very resilient.

It may go dormant but it will not die.

I agree. I would still dose a little ammonia during that period just to keep the bacteria active and robust
