Osmium
Hey guys, I'm trying to attach a couple monti frags to the back wall of my 5 gallon reef, but I tried superglue and they both fell off within a few days. If you've done this before I would greatly appreciate advice on how to do it Quote Link to comment
Andreww
Check out those magnetic frag plugs shaped as live rock....or the bigger rocks, whatever fits your tank. I think I got mine from aquamag or something like that... Magnets are pretty strong so there’s no chance it’ll fall off even when it grows into a colony. You can also move them if for some reason it can’t adapt to the light in that spot , etc If you wanna glue it down though, do some super glue layering, meaning put a bead of glue down and just put under water to form that milky membrane but the glue underneath still wet, out of the water and another bead on top , find your spot(make sure there’s no film algae in that spot, press down and wiggle left to right to break that glue bubble. Hold for 1 minute and it should stay. You gotta glue it flat though, no edges or bases. Itll start plating eventually or growing branches outwards... Hope that makes sense... Quote Link to comment
Osmium
I don't really want to buy the magnetic stuff, since my tank is kind of a budget tank. I'll try that gluing method though. I was trying to glue the edge of the coral, so that might have been the reason they didn't say very long. But they were already cut on that edge and I really wanted to get that plating look immediately. Guess I should be more patient :) 1 Quote Link to comment

Duane, cool magnetic rock . Looks like it’s your website. Do you have some more pictures of it from different angles? I would be interested. Quote Link to comment

Andreww
How thick is the base where the magnet attaches? Quote Link to comment
NanoRox
The base is 2 1/4 in x 1 1/2 in Quote Link to comment
Andreww
Thanks for that. The piece looks big in pictures but I guess it’s actually pretty small which I like cuz I’m just trying to fill in small gaps in the aquascape.. Quote Link to comment
NanoRox
It’s a 14 gallon I have it in. Here is a pic of one in my hand. Its meant to serve as a kind of ledge but It’s made for nanos so not large at all. Hope this helps. Pm me with any questions. I fear I am hijacking the post Quote Link to comment
Osmium
Oh damn those look awesome! When I have extra cash I will definitely have to pick one up. Are there smaller ones? Those are a bit big for my little 5 gallon 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah this one may be too large but I have two more designs going up soon and one of them is for smaller or picco tanks that would be ideal Quote Link to comment
MrObscura
I literally just moved my encrusting montis to the back glass a few hours ago. I just used the same superglue, epoxy, superglue method I use to attach corals to rock. Quote Link to comment
NanoRox
Late reply here but if interested the smaller single frag PicoRox are available. I have have pics and a video of them in the tank at www.nanorox.com Quote Link to comment
MrObscura
I have encrusting montis on my back wall. I used the same approach I use for mounting on rock... Superglue, epoxy, superglue. Quote Link to comment

Sector001
Thank you Tired. I may try removing the GSP from the plug and super gluing it to the backwall Quote Link to comment
monika666
There are very few options when it is possible to glue something to the glass. It should be really good glue. Quote Link to comment
