ColbyW
So I have about 10 lbs of live rock in my tank (been running for about a year now) and recently hair algae has taken over every inch of the rock and I cant get it off. I was thinking about taking out the infested rock and replacing it with dry rock, I only have fish in the tank. Would this process harm my fish friends? Quote Link to comment
Joevember
You would have to cycle the rock first. But replacing the rock would not fix your problem. You should get nutrients under control and manually remove the hair algae. Probably underfiltering or overfeeding your tank. 2 Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Gha can grow on your dry rock as well. The issue is nutrient levels in your tank which are caused from various issues. Gha needs manual removal, a good cuc, and correcting the nutrient issues. Replacing the rocks as mentioned is possible but they will need cycling before being switched out Quote Link to comment
