Applying a Finish to Dead Coral

Hey Folks,

 

I found this interesting dead coral that I plan to mount and display.  I'd like to apply a finish (e.g. shellac, polyurethane, etc) that will bring out the colors and make it 'pop'.  I think a little bit of gloss would work well, but not overly so. 

 

Any recommendations on what type of finish would work well with coral?

It is basically rock at this point, not coral. Anything you want. I would use a spray Polyurethane.
