Thanks, that means a lot! Finally feels like everything is looking how I want it to.

I think the Hector's goby died. He never came out to eat when I put food in the tank. I tried to put pellets on the sand near his caves, but he was never interested in them. Never found fish jerky around the tank, and since there isn't sand on my corals every time I come home I'm thinking he starved. I wasn't too attached to him, but still sad to see him go.

Here's some pics of stuff eating:

And here's a pseudocorynactis that I saw between the two torch rocks. Pretty neat find, I'll see how big I can get it from spot feeding.

Corals look nice. 😊 Bummer about the fish though.

Not the worst that could have happened. Should have asked the LFS to feed it first before I bought it though. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I knew that it spit so much sand, so I don't feel too bad about it.

Any full tank shots🤤

For sure 😄

Last night I fragged up a branch of neon green torch from the back and moved the other branch to the left. It was looking like the torch's sweepers were getting in range of the cynarina, and I already know how torches can just tear through other corals. Now I'm getting the feeling that I need more torches again... 🙃

Found these on the side of one of my torchs. It's a type of flatworm for sure, but it doesn't look like a euphyllia eating flatworm. They are reddish brown, maybe 5mm in length, have no visible eggs, and look very similar to ones I've had on the glass before. From what I've read about euphyllia eating flatworms, or polycald flatworms, is that they are always at the base of the flesh on the skeleton, whereas mine are on the flesh itself. Furthur reading and I found that there is a type of flatworm, epizoic flatworm, that have symbiotic relationships with corals. Epizoic flatworms live on their tissue and eat bacteria and coral mucus. However, if they consume too much mucus then the coral runs into some health issues, becoming more susceptible to disease, they have trouble feeding and they have more tissue contraction.

I'm not a marine biologist so I really don't know what they can do to my torches, but I don't want to take any chances on my collection of my favorite coral species. I only counted 10 on a single head of a torch, which I found very strange, and I sucked them out. I examined all the other torches but they're all fine. I'll be hitting them with a round of flatworm exit and seeing if they go.

Please share experience with any flatworms you have had!!!

I had some pop up on my elegance and they multiplied quickly while trying to cover the surface of the coral to get light. I did a freshwater dip and I never saw them again.

I get the small red ones on the glass from time to time but I don’t worry about those.

I also think I have a large one in my 75. No murders that I know of but I have spotted it twice and stabbed it twice. 😄

The flatworms aren't on any corals today. I checked every head of my torch garden and found nothing 😁👍

My acans have been growing nicely too. The red one I got has at least 6 new ones since I got it. The pink and green acans both have too many to remember, but they definitely grew some more as well.

I'm considering selling my BTA because it never looks right to me anymore. The foot is always stretched around the rock and showing the bottom of itself, which is much uglier than the vibrant colors on the tentacles and oral disc. I've tried adjusting flow and light, but it looks like this 90% of the time:

20190509_184859.thumb.jpg.38cca746d86e3f7d2a540376f9ecba17.jpg

And like this the other 10% (which is how I wished it would look):

I feel like some sps would be better suited where it is. Any thoughts?

If you don’t like it I say get rid of it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good to hear about the lack of flatworms.

  • 2 weeks later...

Did a water change on this tank tonight. I've been putting it off for a while, and finally made the water for it. I cleaned out the back chamber and all the built up detritus there was. Reminds me of how bad I used to have it with my old 65 gallon, making 3 separate 5g buckets of water every 2 weeks. Tanks is fine other than that. I'm selling the RBTA this weekend (if the buyer shows), and I'll be getting some new sps to fill the void. Maybe some encrusting stuff, but I'm a big fan of branching. Here is a size comparison picture of my hand and the nem I used when selling.

Got the RBTA ready yesterday to go for my buyer tomorrow. I had a hard time evicting it off the rock, its foot was in there pretty deep. But after many stings and thoughts of giving up, it released its foot and I was able to put it in the makeshift acclimation box. Now the aquascape reminds me of how the tank looked when I started the tank in November.

Since I just cleaned the glass and the acclimation box is shading a lot of corals, I'll hold off 'till tomorrow for tank pics. So here are the last ones I'll take of the RBTA 👋

Picked up another acan frag today to add to the garden. It's hard to see it well in the pic because it's closed, but it's a bright orange and jade green. The shop didn't have any good looking sps to put on the rock so I thought I'd get this anyway.

Always looks amazing what the plans for the empty piece of rock now

I was thinking a couple more acros or a digi. I was also thinking of putting another setosa in there, but I don't want it to shadow the corals I have on the sandbed. I'd also like to get some corals that aren't green because I keep noticing how most of my corals have some green on them...

So I'll be getting a few branching sps soon. Bubblegum digi would be ideal 👌
