Tank looks great! You sure you need those biopellets? 😉

Nope... I'm only using about half the recommended dose and I think I'll keep it that way. I just saw some other people's very successful AIO tanks using them and wanted to emulate them. 🤷‍♂️

Been away from the tank for 3 days on a trip, the caretaker was feeding while I was gone. Unfortunately I lost the big torch in the back, I came home and it was all stringy and falling apart. No brown stuff anywhere on the coral though, but it looks like what happened to the other torches before. There was also some diatoms/dinos/cyano buildup on the rocks when I got back. I think the new equipment still needs time to break in before the tank is as low maintenence as I want it.

Bummer on the torch.

On the plus side, nice to see the skimmer and reactor up and running. Just got mine up too, too early to tell if it's doing anything but I'm in it for the long run. Just realized you were the one to snag the bag of bio-pellets with the reactor lol, I was hoping it would still be available when I got there.

Got new phone, so I took some pics for ya with the new camera. They're turning out a little brightee than I like. I'll see if I can get some cool colors on the corals later with blues and the filter.

Stil very beautiful now we got the left side of tank to redo again any plans?

And the shortcake how's that going seem to have grown

Still thinking about that. I like the idea of leather corals like devils hand or finger leather. Something to give some movement.

The shortcake has definitely gotten some new polyps/stalks on it. A couple tips are burnt though, maybe because it's so close to the light.

Has anyone seen a cynarina with a bubble thing this big?

Feels like it just keeps getting bigger every day. I think it's just a weird growth pattern from the flow that goes over it, but it just so weird looking.

Also got a top down while I had the flow off20190827_190524.thumb.jpg.3993cfa70cb4d798d9ee1e1bb70bc8e4.jpg

Tank is wet!!

I took sand out of the big tank and turned it into a sandstorm for about an hour... This tank has sand now.

I know these updates aren't very exciting, so this will be the last on until next weekend when I move everything. Hopefully there isn't a mini cycle.

That's a weird hand gesture you got going on there...

Last neon green torch is dead, same stuff. Dark greens are looking fine.

Wasn't actually going to make an update today, just got 2 trochus snails. One of them is very weird and I thought I'd share.

20190907_165710.thumb.jpg.08432101e72365b6c4b8218d2b5a2442.jpg20190907_165712.thumb.jpg.4c7e1e11c7f0b5a533831d6d2b4d9d8b.jpg20190907_165751.thumb.jpg.c4890054c40fec2a9bb304fdf6a65597.jpg

As you can see in the pics, it looks like there is a second shell growing off of the regular shell. I thought it was another snail, but the shells are completely fused to each other. If you know what it is please let me know as I am very curious. I kind of want to just crack open the other shell and see whats going on, but I also don't want to kill the snail.

Last update for a while, I'm moving out tomorrow. About to write a schedule for everything the caretaker has to do.

Only have a couple things with the tank that I'm not happy with currently. One being the thriving vermetid snail population, and the other being dead spots on a few acros. The vermetid snails are a PITA because they always mount themselves on my coral skeletons so when I scrape them off I often break the coral off the scape. There are so many... The acros have some shading problems and a couple burnt tips, I'm just blasting the algae off every day, a couple are growing back fine.

Didn't do anything with the space on the left yet. We'll have to wait a while to see what becomes of it.

Well that about does it. Here are pics of my favorite corals and shots:

Stopped in to pick up some stuff and checked up on the tank, and thank god I did. My caretaker thought that the collection cup needed to go down all the way, so I recalibrated it. It wasn't tank crashing since I emptied it before leaving. Here's a pic from this morning without lights.

Well I didn't expect to be coming back down to do things for the tank, but you gotta do everything you can to protect your children. Got a call from the caretaker that the water level was really high, the ATO put too much in and the resivoir was empty and it also did a great job of topping off the floor. I thought no big deal because the ATO still worked the next day, snail must've gotten back there it's happened before.

But as soon as I opened the basement door to check up on the tank I could smell burnt plastic, which doesn't happen when the ATO burns the motor out since it has an auto shut off. Turns out the water went down into the plug for the doser and completely fried the thing. I'm extremely lucky that everything else is running now and the electronics didn't catch anything else on fire... I'm working on replacing the power strip and doser.

As for the tank, the salinity is a little low so I put salt in the ATO bucket. Looks fine though.

Since the lights were on, might as well20191006_173003.thumb.jpg.cbcb5c8c34466b59d154afdda3eca646.jpg20191006_172914.thumb.jpg.5eb6e522e5c351f3f5b7295fec34d1fb.jpg

My green hitchhiker nems are growing in just nicely... If anyone knows what they are lmk, I'm pretty sure they aren't majanos but I can't think of anything else they could be. (It's in the top left on the first pic)20191006_172955.thumb.jpg.812fedfdc537ddbff8e12d7f6c28068e.jpg

Stopped by again because there was a lot of bubbles shooting out of the return. The outlet for the ATO is broken somehow. It only turns on half the time now, so the tank's water level went down an inch. Got another outlet for it now, works again.

Also the acans I have are growing very well. The single heads are now like 10 heads. 20191101_180739.thumb.jpg.3259e6cd2498272f3a06130b658f7c79.jpg20191101_180806.thumb.jpg.06bdbf6a6a47959d412ccd4e148e0055.jpg

Also, as expected, the GSP is growing like a weed on the back wall. That's a good thing for me.

20191101_180833.thumb.jpg.9125c9ab00caf8f08e3995c149c7b4a9.jpg

Strawberry shortcake and pink milli didn't like all the bubbles and RTN'd recently though. So now I'm running low on acros and sps in general.

Stopped in back home, no emergencies this time!

The normal algae that the tank has always had has been thinning out, and hopefully the vermetid snails will starve out soon too. I think the skimmer and biopellet combo  has finally reached its optimal efficiency. One recent problem is coral warfare. Acans and symphillia are not getting along well.

The GSP has doubled since the last time I saw the tank.

20191123_181832.thumb.jpg.85e1949805800d8c6e5310890a954608.jpg

The tri color acro is also spreading on the wall next to the GSP, I might have to start fragging off GSP if it gets too close. The color on the new growth is amazing.

And something really cool, I found out the little green things on the rock aren't majanos, they're torches! I was dusting the rocks with a turkey baster and saw that it had a euphllia like skeleton, and it all makes sense. I don't know how such a small euphyllia got there, probably not polyp bailout since it is so tiny, but possibly a spawning event in the last hobbyists tank since they were on the rock since I got it. Glad I have them, and I think they'll grow out since they've made it this far. All they needed was the big ones above them to go away....

Updated the first post, really gotta do that more often.

I also changed the title, I've been thinking that another clown goby would be really cool. My YCG I have currently always sits on the glass somehow whenever I walk by the tank, waiting for food. I don't know how a fish can perch on a verticle surface, but it's cute.

20191215_182738.thumb.jpg.d7c4894008910fdba89076c8424fd7e6.jpg

I love my clowns, but they can be a real pain sometimes, so I would be replacing them with another clown goby and maybe a cleaner shrimp.

Does anyone have experience with different clown gobies together? I was thinking a green one would be good, but I don't want my yellow one to fight it.

The tank has been quite dirty recently. When I was taking down the competition pico I put all the coral in this tank, and all the organic matter that was on them seemed to have been decaying. I had a problem with dinos on the sandbed, pumps, rocks, and corals. It closed up my acans and stuck to my acros no matter how many times I sprayed it off.

After I removed the stuff on the sand it started going away, so hopefully not a problem anymore.

I haven't been cleaning the glass while I had the dinos in the tank, so it is very dirty. I took these pics from the top. Also I'm going to my favorite reef store very soon, maybe they'll have a nice clown goby for me. 20191231_185708.thumb.jpg.b6b45d68bb852d540bd3054828afdcf7.jpg20191231_185703.thumb.jpg.56dc167485a5574993267344616c3624.jpg20191231_185736.thumb.jpg.0c5faa7dd99262581dc6710e05265d65.jpg

Baby euphyllia has grown quite a bit!

Looks very nice! I can't even tell anything is wrong 😛

I think @Snow_Phoenix has kept multiple clown gobies together and a spawning pair at one point?

Yep. I had a GCG originally and added 2 YCGs to my 60G cube. All three of them hung out on the same leather coral multiple times, and the YCGs paired up and were spawning. None of the fish chased each other or harassed each other. ---> hope this helps.
