repaiting sump area of a stand.

I Recently bought a used Oceanic systems 130g tank, stand , canopy, and one of the things I'm thinking I might do is repaintthe inside of the stand.  the color is white and it loos like where the sump was dragged in and out.  I don't have a spot outside to paint it so would have to be done where it is inside.   What would you recommend for paint?    the big thing I think is to get paint where it is bare wood for some water protection.

I use latex paint designed for outdoors. The weather proof stuff.
