banasophia
Hi! Just picked up a few new corals including this candy cane. It was really happy and fluffed up when I picked it out so I couldn’t see the base. Just looked at it and discovered these red things on it. They are not moving and they are hard. Any idea what they are? Quote Link to comment

Basically like coraline in terms of good/bad attributes. I personally leave them unless they grow on equipment. Quote Link to comment

Firefish15
Taken from the sticky in this forum page: Foraminiferans: HARMLESS These are really interesting things. Often miss labeled as corals, or sponges these animals actually are one of the oldest forms of life on Earth. Pretty amazing and very common in our tanks. I see those white looking disk ones all the time, and the red ones are really beautiful. 1 Quote Link to comment
