Toxic enigma
I have a bit of a two part question. First part is, I picked up this pink acro frag for 10 bucks last weekend and was wondering if anyone could identify it. It's colored up a bit since I got it, and seems to be happy and doing well, just would like to know what it is past being some type of acro. The other part is there is a small section at the tip that looks bleached and has some wispy algae growing on it, would it be better to leave it or should I cut it off? Quote Link to comment
specore
No help on the id. TBH most of the ID's are bs anyhow. As far as the tip, I tend to be a leave it kind of guy. At the very least I would give it a few weeks and see if it starts to recover. Quote Link to comment
MrObscura
Yea there are so many different common names for the same coral or morphs of the same species. The worst for me is montipora because there are so many different growth forms and I want to know what species I'm actually putting in my tank, but most places just know it's a monti and that's it. Which doesn't tell you much. Quote Link to comment

So basically don't worry about having a cool sounding name for it and be happy I got a pretty nice frag for cheap and it's doing well despite my lack of experience with coral. As for the tip if it's not going to harm anything I'll probably just leave it for now, and decide if it's something I want to clip off after I place it on the rockwork latter. Quote Link to comment
