Help with a JBJ Cubey

I replaced the PH with a MJ 1200.  

 

Having trouble threading the power cord prong on the new pump thru the narrow opening between the Cubey tank and hood.

 

I'm sure someone has the solution?

Razor blade, hot knife, Dremel?

 

Cut the cord, use wire nuts or install a new plug system.

I cut the cord to get the old pump out...  But there has to be a way to put a new pump in without needing an electrician?

Does the hood not come off? Then you should be able to run the wire and put the hood back on.  (at least on my old JBJ Nanocube the lid came off pretty easily)

I know this thread is old but it came up when I was searching for JBJ Cubey info.  I got my 20g Cubey on deep clearance.

And there's enough annoying things like this that I see why it's no longer sold most places, and why I have a hard time finding mods and other people who have one..... 

Anyways in case anyone else has this issue...here's what works, for the 20 at least. You have to wiggle and rotate the plug in one hand, while changing the angle of the hood with the other hand. Around 45 degrees seems to work best, but you really have to wiggle it.
