I don’t have the controller for this kessil, so I have to turn it on and off and adjust it manually. If I was going to use it long term, I would invest in the controller. I think the Bluefish controller will work with this. I have one if you would like it pm me and I can send it to you. Maybe you can have better luck getting it connected to your wifi than I did. Your floss & carbon tray at the top is upside down. The plastic slots are supposed to be facing downward with the floss on top. Otherwise, the floss won't filter anything out. You'll probably want to do fishless cycling for your tank, so pick up a bottle of Dr. Tim's ammonia and a bottle of beneficial bacteria (one and done from Dr. Tims, Bio-spira, etc.). Add 2 drops per gallon ammonia and then put the bottle away. That should be enough to get you +1 ppm of ammonia and then dump in the bottle of beneficial bacteria. The cycle should take 2-3 weeks (sometimes more, sometimes less) and you can monitor it with test kits for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Look up articles on the nitrogen cycle for aquariums. Until your tank cycles completely, it won't be safe for corals and inverts. Patience is the key as you don't want to kill your very expensive pets while you learn. Good luck! Do your research. Learn everything that you can. I was immediately hooked and started my second tank, my IM Nuvo 10, on 6/16. I really appreciate all of the knowledge and support I’ve found here. This hobby, and the community, got me through a tough time in my life, so thank you for that! I’ve learned so much in the past few months, and I’ve enjoyed the beauty and wonder in everyone’s tanks. 💛 Recent full tank shots: Biocube 16 (stock LED lights), February 28, 2019 Daylights Beauty Lights Blues Nuvo 10 (AI Prime) Favorite Pics: Biocube 16, Taken 4/23/19 Biocube 16, Taken 5/17/19 Current Biocube 16 Setup, as of 1/26/2019: Light Schedule, Stock LED Lights: LC1 11 am - 9:00 pm LC2 10 am - 9:30 pm LC3 6 am - 12:30 am Chamber 1: Coralife skimmer, temp probe, false floor still intact, tab between chamber1 & 2 still intact (I recommend keeping the tab intact as it supports the Coralife skimmer if you ever want to use one) Chamber 2: Stock media rack, filter floss, Chemipure Elite (for up to 25 gallon), 2 sacks of matrix media Chamber 3: Cobalt Neotherm 50W heater, Chill Solutions chiller pump and hoses, Purigen (for up to 100 gallon) which is sitting in the spot where the small black sponge filter was (if you take out the sponge, save it in case you want it in the future) Original Journal Pics, from August 2018: Equipment Ideas for Beginners: When I first set up my tank, it was difficult to figure out what I really needed to run my tank, so I thought I would post my suggestions here to give people a nice starting point and maybe help you avoid the trial and error process I went through. banasophia
Happy to have a lid with stock lights back on the tank again! And it looked extra pretty on Christmas Eve, so I got some nice pics... the sun corals stayed fairly open all day for some reason, which is unusual. Here are some pics from the evening, under the beauty lights, and once I choose my favorites I’ll do another post with some shots under the white lights. Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Hank is adorable! I miss my YCG. I used to have a very cute one in one of my older nanos that survived for years. Named him Cosmo. And he ate anything and everything I threw into the tank. Also, quick question - how long have you kept your mandarin so far? He looks very healthy and well-fed! 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment

Also, quick question - how long have you kept your mandarin so far? He looks very healthy and well-fed! 🙂 Thanks! Yeah, I’ll be sad when the day comes that I lose Hank. Cosmo was a great name! It’s interesting because Hank my YCG, my diamond goby Falkor in my Biocube 32, and my blue neon goby Jack in my Evo 5 are my favorite fish... I guess I’m partial to gobies. 😊 Finnick, my mandarin, is now over 2 1/2 years old. He seems to be doing well. He eats pellets, and lots of them, every night... so even at times when the tank doesn’t seem to have tons of pods he’s still eating. And he also probably eats frozen, though I don’t feed that as often lately. He’s still pretty small, not super chunky like your target mandarin, and I don’t think he’ll ever get as big as the huge wild caught mandarins I’ve seen. Quote Link to comment

banasophia
Just snapped this pic of my jack o lantern lepto and thought I’d post here too... I had added it near the very beginning and had thought it was dead so I removed it, but I must’ve left a tiny bit behind and it has slowly been growing on the back right side of my scape. I don’t usually see it from my normal viewing angle, so it’s always nice to catch a little glimpse of it. You can also catch a glimpse of my sun coral wonderland. 5 Quote Link to comment
banasophia
Oh man... the clump of pink palys broke loose from the rock due to the glue giving out I guess... debating whether to glue them back because they are a long standing part of my tank, or take the opportunity to remove them and free up some space for something new. There are three polyps that will be left behind if I get rid of them. 3 Quote Link to comment

Yeah, I thought the same about wanting to see the different channels... I asked and he said it was much lower in the beauty lights and blue phases... and I agree, would also be cool to know about the 16. Quote Link to comment
